Burke, in London, Ont., watching top draft pick Nazem Kadri on Friday night, is working on at least two trades. He will undoubtedly attempt to make roster moves first, preferring to make a coaching change the last resort.

I wonder if his trades will be as good as Exelby + scraps for Kubina? Gag That's an impact trade alright...for Atlanta.

If you want to rehash the Kubina trade, as I have said all along, it was an awful deal to make. Kubina is a guy that is a 1st round pick + deadline acquisition. He's a poised, two-way defenceman. Problem is/was getting him to waive that NTC when they eneded him to. Burke made good of his opportunity, but got reamed on that deal, which is something he is clearly used to. He definitely could have gotten a much better return, problem was doing so when teams were pretty much decided and the cap value was 100%, not a pro-rated one at the deadline, which is easier for teams to fit in.

He's probably scouting Kadri to make sure he is ready to come up full-time, thus he'd have to move some bodies. As he said, it would be either by trade or by waivers. He has no problems with a 1-way guy getting claimed.

Isnt Kardi just blowing the penis down in London right now?

He's been inconsistent. Still, 22 points and +9 in 20 games isn't terrible, and London's second in its division.

ISn't McRae outscoring (and outplaying I think) hhim at the moment?

Do you think he'd actually do it? That would be such a blow to Kadri, and I personally think he's going to be really good for the Leafs

Ummmm, that's not very good at all considering where he should be... I said this before, I think Kadri is going to be a 1st round flop. Worst pick of the 1st round IMO.

No, he's definitely not.

He's got a good frame, great speed, good defensive awareness, decent physicality, steps it up in the post-season and has tremendous hands.

He's going to be Derek Roy/Datsyuk-lite.

His problem has been that he's trying to do too much on the ice. Compared to other problems, that's relatively easy to overcome.

We need to stop bashing Leaf moves just because they're the Leafs. Bozak was an intriguing player we were all interested in, until the Leafs signed him at which point he became garbage. Same goes for Gustavsson. Hell, we were all hating on Kessel as well until he showed us how foolish we were.

Kadri is going to be a very good player, and had the Leafs not taken him, he'd be an Ottawa Senator right now.

Ah, but David Perron must at least give us pause.

I Kadri had been a Sens pick, I think you'd be looking at him in different light. He is a gamebreaker, he's very skilled and can take control of a game. He needs to get bigger though, but he's definitely already got the skill.

Kadri is going to be a first line player in the NHL. Anyone who suggests otherwise based on literally no supporting facts is just playing devil's advocate.

He's a great player but I'll never fully understand why the Leafs took him instead of getting Cowen.

Don't care though. I'm happy as a pig in Dung.

I'm guessing part of it was that the Leafs had already drafted Schenn, were fairly confident in being able to get Komisarek, and had no legitimate first-line players.

For sure it was Burke's need to bolster the quality of their prospects up front, but when the chips are down, I truly think he made a mistake. Kadri's going to be a nice player, but to have Cowen in your system would make things so much better down the road IMO. He still could have signed Komisarek - and perhaps skipped taking Beachemin and gone for a forward on the free agent market.

But...I'm sure he knows what he'd doing (I'm not sure at all actually). Ahhhhh!
