Whitney is the real prize IMO. Wily vet., really great player, will make a playoff team very dangerous. Like Stillman, but better IMO.

Yeah and might just be who Murray wants. Maybe Zubov and Lee/Picard, a 2nd?

Whitney has an NMC I believe.

Lee and a 2nd would do it, but that's a fairly high price to pay for a UFA rental.

Why do you think Rutherford wants any of the players you mentioned? He needs something to re-launch his team, not players you want to conveniently eject from the Sens' roster.

Well for one, the Senators (I hope) won't be offering Regin, Karlsson, Cowen, Weircioch. Murray and Rutherford have some good rapport, so maybe they can get a deal done.

Too bad Anton Babchuk still isn't available, would have been one of those ideal offensive d-men we are talking about.

I can't believe Carolina just let him walk. So dumb.

Its strange how the West has played so many more games than the East. There are 6 teams in the East that have played fewer games than any team in the West and there are 5 teams in the West that have played more games than any team in the East. I'm too lazy to add up the differences in games played, but I'd estimate that the West has played about 25 more games than the East.

I guess there are just more Olympians in the West

That's a lot. Lee and a 2nd for a rental. I doubt Carolina gets that much at the deadline. No one's gonna give Carolina something of equal value, it's gotta be picks/prospects/young roster players.

He's horrendous defensively. Worse than Picard - way worse actually.

But paired with Philly or Volch and it really doesn't matter. The guy scored 16 goals last year.

What we needed, 4 months ago, was to sign a Greg Zanon or Steve Montador. Montador preferably.

Lee, Campoli, and Picard are pretty much all liabilities right now. They're young and have lots of upside, especially the latter two, but that bottom 3 is killing us. I'd like to see a stead D brought in -- nothing to flashy, a Montador type 4/5 guy -- and then let those other three (plus Karlsson, I guess) fight it out to play with Carkner.

Looking for another top-6 forward before we address the backend is, I think, really failing to identify the team's main problem.

Why would have needed another defensive defenceman in Zanon? Seriously, our lack of moving the puck on the back end and scoring from the blue line is the problem.

What the Sens should have done is never let Chara go. All they've done since is try to find someone to replace the offense we used to have (Preissing, Corvo, Picard, Campoli, Kuba, etc.) None of them have nor ever will add up to what he is.

In (Pittsburgh’s) most recent health setback, it was announced Thursday that defenseman Brooks Orpik will be out of the lineup for the next two weeks with a lower-body injury.
