Wow, they better hope that Huet doesn't get hurt, not 100% sold on Niemi holding the fort for long.

EDIT: Dave, your thoughts? cool)

That salary was his reward for helping to secure the franchise early on and to market the team. He was everything to them, including a part owner. Calling it a coaching salary is the true embarassment. Every professional writer who went with that twist deserves a kick in the junk.

Yep. Neither he, nor his agent held a gun to the GM's head during contract talks (I can't vouch for Janet).

I think she only placed a bet on what the outcome of negotiations would be. General Hockey Talk - Injuries, signings, factoids + other news from around the league - Page 9 668437

Stephan Robidas has signed a 4 year extension with Dallas. Good for him - and good for them.

i watched the other night on TSN the canadians at their retreat at some resort or cottage--i got sick to my stomach-- they are trying to team build--they have to partner up and get know about each others family, interests, hobbies etc--no seriously are you bleeping kidding me--i really got sick watching that last night--like we do this type of team bonding in our library here at school--i'm ready to explode with gainey's philosophy-go read a book in the library for crying out loud--you know how you team bond--play like soldiers--treat every game as a war--hate the other team like its your worst enemy--take pride in wearing that jersey--hate to lose--do anything and everything to win--get the tough guys to secure the ice--do it the old Canadian Hockey Style--soldiers bond during war not when they are on a base target practicing

at night time maybe gainey can buy some hot dogs/marshmallows and the boys can sit around the fire pit and sing some songs--THIS IS A JOKE---you know what my old habs did--they brawled during trainning camp--everybody was head hunting--they all wanted to make the team

this pretty boy hockey is bs--its hard being a hab fan with gainey as GM

Did anyone hear about Toskala's .860 save percentage in pre-season? WTF is happening with him? Has he completely lost it or does he need a change of scenery with a good team playing in front of him? Brutal!

Come on, sidstu, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

I have to agree, of course. I lived in Montreal from '73 to '94 and I still remember the great teams -- the great character players -- on those 70s and 80's teams, even into the 90s. I cannot spot a single such character player in the current roster.

What happened to Gainey? The team he has assembled has no similarities to the teams he played on. None of the players play the style he used to play.

wprager--i can't figure that myself but enough excuses--i know he has been part of montreal for a long time and fans are reluctant to go at him b/c of his tradition in montreal but enough is enough--i'm tired of all the excuses--he has 9 lives in montreal--any other GM in montreal would have been removed a long time ago

now, lokk at this mess with SK--blood is thicker than water--if SK stays suspended for along he is going to get pist, than his brother is going to get pist and now a distraction starts in montreal--lets not forget that gainey drafted AK instead of Carter, Richards, and Getzlaft--his philosophy is a joke--he called Brian Burke a salmon who swims against the current yesterday b/c he went for size as opposed to speed--i think he used the wrong term--burke is the shark and he is the salmon--i had it with him and all the excuses i have to hear

Nothing on Ice Chips yet. There was a site used last year, I thought it was goaliepost.com, but if that's what it was, it is now a paid subscription.

Was going to check goaliepost.com but I now see it's no longer free. You have to pay to register to see their goalie grid... which is gathered from scraping other free news sources from around the 'net.

Good thing he's not Russian or he'd be vilified.

He was never all that good to begin with. He was overrated like countless prospects prior to going to Toronto, which is when he became on eof the most overrated players in the league.

Consistency is a word he's never known.

The Flyers just became clear-cut Conference Champs.
