And Chicago gets 4 games vs NHL teams and then two Euro teams.

and they start their regular season when some teams are wrapping up their pre-season, very strange scheduling this year, plus we have the condensed schedule with the Olympic break, at least this year our goalie won't be playing in the tournament and risk injuring himself.

Isn't it up to the team to decide how many games they play in pre-season with the minimum being 6 I believe. I think the Sens only wanted 6 games but I could be wrong.

I'm not sure how that all works... that would make more sense I guess.

Coach Clouston joins Hockey Central on The FAN at 12:25 pm with Mike Brophy and Daren Millard.

If you want to catch it - watch it on Sportsnet or listen in on The Fan 590's web site:

Not sure if this Gretzky news will bump him back.

Ottawa Citizen....

Pascal Leclaire is expected to play a full 60 minutes in goal when the Ottawa Senators face the Boston Bruins Friday night, but Filip Kuba will miss the game due to a lower-body injury.

Coach Cory Clouston said the team is keeping arguably its No. 1 defenceman out as a precaution and that he should be back in practice next week.

Meanwhile, the team sent goaltender Mike Brodeur down to Binghamton of the AHL. Leclaire and Brian Elliott will handle the duties in Ottawa this season.

I also saw that Clouston is expected to name the Alternate Captains after the weekend.

M. Brodeur will report to Bingo if he clears waivers.

Nice job by Clouston on The Fan 590... toting the team line and staying the course. No one player is above the team and what's best for the team is what gets done. Not a bad word to say about Heatley, he was just disappointed by how it all went down and that they didn't really get a chance to work things out and address his concerns before his mind was made up. He had a great line about walking a mile in a man's shoes before passing judgment on him. He's excited about this season and the depth they now have at forward and in goal all the way down to Bingo.

He indicated that the players are all on the same page and buying into the team first attitude. It sounds like the room is a lot better than it has been in a long long time.

Very encouraging.

Emery's having a good pre-season so far...

DRugs are gone in Meszaros, McGrattan, and Emery. Selfish prick is gone in Heatley. Gone are the gutless coaches. Things in Ottawa are alredy better by the subtraction of these things. (Some of us have been screaming that forever).

Clouston has the team turned around and hopefully a guy like Spezza has 100% bought into the team game as well. (I think he has by the looks of the pre season).

I think he has and with his play clouston has shown him some faith by playing him with michalek on the pk a bit. I would not be surprised to hear spezza named an Assistant captain when cory finaly does announce them

Wouldnt have a problem with that at all. If it helps his game, I'm all for it. I dont see the "A" improving Fisher's game or changing it any, Spezza, maybe.

I disagree with that. I think Fisher cares about that 'A' more than people believe. He may not be a vocal leader, but he's a good soldier. Sometimes you just have to give it to the guy who has earned it above all others. In this case, thats Fisher.

He might care but do you see his game changing? Prob not.

I say give one to both anyways, you can have 3 "A" on the team. It's not unheard of.
