Well, we know the Edmonton deal was leaked.  Who's to say there isn't a deal worked out with the wild but Heatley hasn't got the okay yet.  That's why Heatley and his agents are talking directly with SanJose, trying to get a deal done.  BM likes the minnesota deal and unless SJ offers more, Heatley will eventually have to accept going to Minny.  This is all speculation and dreaming on my part....but wouldn't it be nice...

Karlsson is hardly a lock for the defending Olympic Champ's men's team. He would be beyond lucky to grab the 7th D man spot.

No kidding. Which of Lidstrom, Ohlund, Hedman, Kronwall, Edler, Enstrom, Oduya, Ericsson, Johnsson, Murray and Hjalmarsson (amongst many others) is he supposed to beat out?

Ohlund, Lidstrom, Kronwall, Enstrom, Backman, Havlid, Hedman, Tjarnqvist, a lot of guys to beat our for Karlsson to have a shot.

Granted I think Canada's blue-line should be deeper than Sweden's.

I was trying to find a decent comparisson. Same age, basically the same situation in terms of the mens national team. Karlsson and Doughtey IMO will one day 2 of the top 5 D men in the NHL.

I thought the invite was good enough personally. Nice to see he's on the radar. Unless there's a rash of injuries (which there might be), there's no chance for Karlsson. Still, a tip of the cap in his direction from Team Sweden.

At this exact moment, Bogosian is a good comparison to Karlsson. Didn't light the world on fire last year - but he will...and he's good enough to play Olympic Hockey, but who on Team USA will they take out?

You forgot Keith Ballard on your list, as well.

And with Fowler coming up, USA's defence is going to be good for quite a while.

Me too. I love Bogosian, I think he and Suter were born to play together. Maybe he makes it after all?

I did forget Ballard, more competition. The US will be half-way decent.
