It was nice to hear BM say that Z. Smith is "ready" to make the big club. He even mentioned Regin to be a strong candidate as well however didn't tell us how he plans on having any of those 2 up here and still be under the cap! Facepalm

They won't be over the cap come opening day. HE said there were some moves coming.

Karlsson can definitely make the club it seems. If there are some moves coming, I guess Picard and Schubert are likely gone.

Karlsson has already made this club, it's whether or not he does something in camp to get that spot taken away from him.

People say Regin is ready? (I say it as well) Karlsson is more then ready and in fact, from a mental standpoint and a tallent standpoint, he wont be challenged in AHL and there is very little for him to learn in the SEL.

Playing the 5th, 6th roll in Ottawa is where he will develope despite his size who people seem to be absolutly obsessed with.

Neely, what do you think are his chances to make the Swedish Olympic team?

He said that Volchenkov loves it here, almost never leaves to go to Russia in the summers, they love him - Murray says 'he thinks he'll be around for a while.'

That much I was able to pick up.

karlsson is a lock for the sweedish team if he plays with alfie at all this season. It seems to me lee is getting more expendable all the time. i wonder if him and heatley packaged together wouldn't make some other team look at that piece of crap heatley again....

When Murray was coaching, Volchenkov was the only guy I ever really heard him single out with positive remarks besides The Alfie, of course.

Murray seemed to slip a little, he said that they needed one more 'big D man back there' and then sort of backtracked and said that Karlsson was a young buck who should make the team.

Is this where the Sykora talk is coming in? Are we looking to trade Heatley for a big D-man, then sign Sykora? Is it Brent Burns? :drooling:

I think he's on the blower to Mayor Chiarelli reminding him the he hasn't won anything with Chara and that he can help him.

Well, Murray is probably talking about trades opportunities every day, I'm pretty sure most of top 2 Defenseman's names have been tossed around every now and then.

Well, we know the Edmonton deal was leaked.  Who's to say there isn't a deal worked out with the wild but Heatley hasn't got the okay yet.  That's why Heatley and his agents are talking directly with SanJose, trying to get a deal done.  BM likes the minnesota deal and unless SJ offers more, Heatley will eventually have to accept going to Minny.  This is all speculation and dreaming on my part....but wouldn't it be nice...

Prob the same as Doughty's for Canada. Good enough to be there but not sure if he is the best choice. Best comparisson IMO.
