i dunno, we'd be doing wilson a bit of a favour by taking his contract. i like the boyle idea.

to ottawa:boyle, couture and(of course) cheechoo.
to SJS: heatley and smith... give em picard if they want(i think i'd rather keep shubby over picard)

i could learn to love this deal, especially if cheechoo manages to find the back of the net 25 times a year.... hehe

but i'd take the minny deal before, i really think mikko could help us out alot.

I don't think Wilson will see it that way. Boyle is a premier D-man, even if the term of his contract takes him in to his adult diaper years. I would be stunned at this point if Wilson ponies up what Murray wants now, after holding out this long. I say, Diddle Wilson and the horse he rode in on. You had every opportunity to get this guy, but you didn't want to cut into the flesh a little. Take your spare parts and stuff 'em. Cheechoo is not much more than that in SJ atm. No deal is getting done with him as a centrepiece imo.

Murray suddenly talking to Minny seriously makes me think that Minny is on Heatley's approved list. Why would Murray waste time talking to a team he knows Heatley won't go to this close to his self-imposed deadline?

Heatley might very well like Minny, it's a hockey mad market, but a quiet market. Plus, he'd undoubtedly be the man there. They've also got some nice players to get him the puck.

well heatley might force BM to look at SJS as it is probably with his top 3. i think if you put boyle in a deal he becomes the centerpiece and cheechoo the luggage...
personaly i think(like it's been said) that minny is a terrefic town to live in. i've spent 3 weeks there a couple years back and it's great. good food, many microbrewries and good live music comes thru often. plus as far as american cities go it's pretty nice.
oh there's a restaurent called uptown there, and you can get pints of bloody maries on sunday morning with your breaky.... need is say more..? :___:

Boyle and Cheechoo alone are a $10M cap hit. Moving Heatley and Smith would cover that but we'd still be tight.

I think we've already found out that Heatley isn't forcing Murray to do anything.

Even with Boyle, I need more than Cheechoo.

I don't know. It's tough to say no to Boyle even if Cheechoo really only fits on our 3rd line.

I can say no, easily. We are set on D coming up. Just be patient. We are lean throughout the organization up front. Why make it thinner? A couple of the top end talent we have are like 80 in sports years (Alfie, Kovy).

I'd much rather not have to deal with Boyle's money when he's geriatric and we've got studs on our blueline named Karlsson, Wiercioch and Cowen. We've already got guys who can tutor these young guys.

Boyle is an immediate fix. Heatley should be used to fetch both a short and long term solution imo.

Earlier this summer, when Doug Wilson promised change in SJ, he made it clear that he only had two untouchables on his team: Thornton and Boyle.

SJS is absolutely, positively, 110%-for-sure not trading Boyle. They spent the better part of 4 years looking for a right-handed, stud D to run their PP and secure their back end. There is no way they will even consider moving him now, considering the kind of year he had for them last season, and the fact that we're only 1 year removed from that trade.

This is, like, the 12th time someone brought up Boyle for Heatley, or at least Boyle moving from SJ at all. As I've been saying all along, it just won't happen, so don't waste another word on it.

Doug Wilson is struggling to bring change to the SJS...

...but there's still time.

Good point shabbs. I think Boyle may be the key. I recall rooney advocating Boyle for Heatley as a definite possibility, several times.

All this is true. Apparently though, he's got some other untouchables he's not willing to move for a stinkin' two time 50 goal man.

One thing is for sure though; its all coming to an end. People have their own ideas and theories on how its going to end but the one thing they agree on is that it is ending...soon.

Soon?!?! WTF?!?!?! Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh!

Tell me about it.

Rooney is all about the Boyle/Heatley swap. He's been pushing it since Day 1.

Can't stop talking about it.

So annoying...
