Interesting how many people chose mystery team. I doubt he gets traded until next summer, or December at the earliest.

Nothing's happening, no one's making a move. It's getting late in the summer.

Can't really see it now. Shrug

I think Heatley goes to the runner-up in the Mike Grier sweepstakes.

now i know eklund is dung but he mentioned something todya which might actually make sense in the heatley trade

*I am told that the likely timeframe for Heatley is by week's end
because, "One of the players who controls this wants to get his kids
settled in and may not waive if it goes beyond Friday."

if this is to be believed(which it would make sense too) then the deadline wasnt exactly imposed by murray so it might just be killing the deal with whatever team holds that player........also ek does say the rangers are interested again

Or he read Senschirps take on a possible deadline and added his own lies to make it his own. Ahhhhh!

this too, is probably the case. in defence of senschirp i frequently visit his site(refresh 2-3 times a day) and i have to say he does sound on the ball, he's been ahead of the media a few times and seems to echo alot of the current situation. i wouldn't believe everything tha's written(anywehre)but it's miles beyond K LEE(which can be entertaining for dung and giggles, nothing more).

what do you guys think of SENSAY? i look it up but don't know much about it.

second where there's smoke usualy hides a fire. i too have heard Buffalo a little to often to think it's just hot air. they might be kicking tires... who's hot in buffalo someone asked? Derek Roy! love that guy, could be awesome here but is a center.. so we would have to get someone to play on the top line but he'd kill on the second. pominville might be available although i'm not super fond of him.
i voted for mistery team and i hope it's LA but i'm inclined to think the rangers (sathers) are stupid enough to drop the bank to aquire heatley. Shrug

Not so much. More of a Murder She Wrote or Seeing Things, kind of mystery.

Next 30 days? More rumours, more BS from Garrioch and that Cheapseats clown. No movement for Heatley. That's my guess.

Every day we get closer to camp, I want Murray to hold on to him until the deadline. After suffering through several months of the Ottawa media and fans all over him, I'd bet that Heatley approved list of teams gets longer come deadline day. That's also when his value will be at it's highest imo.

as much as i would love to see heatley suffer, i think it's best for the team to move on. if heatley sticks around it will further rot away the core of this team. i think this trade has the posibility to place this team into a contender once again depending on the return.(not comparing us to a top seaded team but still, playoffs are a hole different ballgame).
for the sake of Alfies career i hope this team can get another shot at the cup.

then again i might be dreaming. Facepalm

I see that logic, but what is the lesser of these two evils?

Letting Heatley come back and risk cancer in the locker room

or

Trading him now, for less, setting the franchise back.

Trading him now for less virtually guarantees we won't be making a cup run before Alfie retires.

How about the Rangers go Diddle themselves? That would be fun too.

Their roster sucks, the only reason they'll be fighting for 8th is because of Lundqvist.

Avery - Dubinsky (not signed) - Gaborik
Higgins - Drury - Kotalik
-Rookie? - Callahan

That's not a nice lineup in the least. Not at all. Voros? Rissmiller, Brashear? Good. Good luck with that.

Staal, Roszival, Redden, Girardi. With a rookie Gilroy and Sanguetti (sp) thrown in there as well?

I don't see who they'd move to be honest - and if they traded Dubinsky + their prospect Russian forwards (one of them anyway) and a 1st, will they even have a lefitimate center to play line one? Chris Drury centering Heatley and Gaborik?

Nah...not good enough. Sather is riding Lundqvist until he cant anymore and is finally fired (which I hope takes a long, long, long, long time).

This is what I voted/believe as well.

Mark Christopher is throwing out there Cheechoo, Vlasic, maybe Couture and another prospect. You know what? Do it. Paramount here is getting Heatley off this team. He will kill the dressing room and Ottawa will end up challenging for that coveted #1 draft pick.

At least the Sens could go into the season with a fresh start. Who knows, start Cheechoo on the first line, perhaps he re-discovers that 50+ goal touch.

And I believe it would free up a tiny bit of cap space.

I am fed up with this Dung. Prior to July 1 I was too caught up in all the hype, but now, close to a month and a half later, there has no progress. Enough already!

The sticking point with Murray seems to continue to be that he doesn't want Cheechoo and wants Michalek and San Jose does not seem to be willing to include Michalek in ANY trade. Until that changes... they ain't dancing.

IF the other prospect was Petrecky or McGinn I would do this in a heartbeat. Suffer a little now with the Cheechoo gamble but adding Vlasic and 2 Grade A prospects would be huge long term to this team. The depth a D would be almost unparraled in the entire league.

A top 6 of Spezza/Alfredsson/Kovalev/Foligno/Cheecho/Fisher is probably more balanced than last year and our D would be improved with Vlasic.

I'm with you on this one beedub. We need to swallow our pride and avoid a catastrophe here. Murray has played the market for a long time, and unless there's something really significant in the weeds, I say you pull the trigger on this one. Compare it to the EDM deal.

Cheechoo > Penner .... is cheaper, is more of a goal scorer, and is in better shape :^^^^:

Vlasic > Smid .... and the same age if I'm not mistaken.

Couture = Cogliano ... I'm giving this one a draw because it's really unknown what Couture will amount to in the big leagues.

+ San Jose is throwing in an additional pick? I dunno guys, if we were ready to take the Edmonton deal, I think this one is better....

As deep as we are at D in the farm, we could use some additional strength in offense. Adding Couture and another forward like McGinn to our depth chart will help tremendously.
