As an aside, we have managed to go from BD needing some action before the 20th, to effective nose picking in six quotes.

POLL: What will happen with Heatley?
I'm not a fan of humongous wings... my favourite places for wings here in the GTA are: Bistro on Avenue (Toronto), St. Louis Wings (Toronto), The Chicken Master (Brampton) and Turtle Jack's (Brampton).FireOnIce wrote:Wild Wing is my 2nd favorite. I consider myself sort of a wing aficionado.
Wild Wing wings can get sort of messy depending on the flavor. More sauce than anything else and I like a meaty piece of meat.
The best wings I have ever had come from a little place called Sgt. Peppers Bar and Grill. I you can ever find one of these little pubs, order their wings and enjoy. Biggest and best wings you will ever try.

Nice! I wonder if Bono will go on a rant mid-show about the plight of Africans. I've heard he does that.
Gretzky's is good - pub fare and the like... across the street is Leoni's Italian if you're into a more "uppy" atmosphere... there's lots within walking distance.Acrobat wrote:What's a good place for pre-concert food near Rogers Centre (SkyDome)?
a few of us are headed there for a concert next month, and will probably head out for food before and after.

Every tour....
I haven't missed a tour since Unforgettable Fire....and every damn time, he's done the same thing...a self-important rant
I wish singers would stick to singing, and leave politics to politicians.

Nice! I've never seen them in concert, but I've got a huge U2 Bootleg collection around somewhere.
I don't mind him getting involved in causes, but there is a time and place for a rant. People paying to see the band shouldn't be subjected to that. Otherwise, he does good in that he sheds light on some worthy causes.

i'm not a fan of U2 or bono but i like that he does that. i think anybody can spare 5 minutes... besides nobody stands up for anything anymore. i went to see The Cult on their last tour and before the encore they presented a 10 minute video on burma. not exactly rock n roll stuff but why not. alot of people could use a little "awakening".

I will give you my personal guarantee that as long as you are back by the start the Sens training camp, you will be able to see Heatley don the colors of the Ottawa Senators. He is not going anywhere.
FYI, I am basing this solely on a gut feeling. That intuition could be the 24 Garlic Parmesan wings I had from Wild Wing last night though, but either way, you won't miss a thing on the Heatley front.
That's one cast iron stomach.
Next time, try the "Ring of Fire" version. They live up to their name.
I can't do spice. Spicy foods make my nose bleed.
Check with an Ear/Nose/Throat doc.
You probably have a few blood vessels that are very close to the surface of the nasal lining, and are very delicate.
These would be apt to bleed if you have spicy food, because they will dilate, but also if the air is very dry, or if you pick it too much (I'd assume you've outgrown that by now...). It can also be a problem if you have allergies.

I missed this the first time through this thread (Page 12 or whatever we are on).
You couldn't be more spot on with your diagnosis. I am quite impressed actually.
I have had my nose cauterized 7 times in total. The last time I had it was when I was a lot younger, 18 years ago I would guess. Nothing works. I stopped having it done because it's a pain in the butt and hurts quite a bit. If they would guarantee that it works this time, I would do it. I don't trust the procedure anymore.
My nose bleeds every 2 days, somedays like a tap. Any contact to my nose at all, I am a mess. Which is pretty funny actaully because I have been doing MMA for about 3 years now. I go through a lot of shirts and rash guards. I have special plugs for my nose.

Thanks!
Apparently it does hurt a fair bit. 18 years is a long time, though, and techniques and tools may have changed. It may be worthwhile seeing your family doc to discuss whether going to an ENT would be worthwhile. Put it this way, if there is a possibility of it being fixed (and it's a newer technique and laser/cautery tool/whatever), then wouldn't it be worth at least one try just to see if you could save the aggravation of bleeding out every time you fight?
It might also allow nose-breathing, since you won't have the nose plugs if it works.
Not to mention all those t-shirts.

I think it's one thing to make people aware of the issues - much of U2's music is politically motivated. I respect that. It's no different than anyone else taking a stand on something, only they have the "star power" and money to be more effective and be heard.
What troubles me is when it becomes a show, rather than a true mission. Last time U2 came to Canada, Bono sat down with Paul Martin. He was unhappy with the outcome of the meeting, and the show in Ottawa reflected this - it lacked energy, the timing was off, and his rant seemed to have a bit more vitriol and anger towards the politicians than usual.
I have an almost complete bootleg collection - CD singles, promo discs, out-takes, demos and remixes, as well as recordings of virtually every concert they have ever played. Not sure why exactly, but when you start collecting, sometimes it becomes a habit rather than a logical activity. I say this because I have never shared any of them, I have never checked most of them, and in fact I'm not even really interested in listening to 15 concerts from the same tour.
To go back to the original comment - Bono has done something effective. He was part of the group that initiated "Product Red". Pretty good for a guy with the stupidest looking sunglasses ever invented.
To address your comment that nobody stands for anything any more - that in itself is a mission to take up.
"Take a stand" "Have a Voice" "Make a Difference"
I try to teach my kids these principles (six year olds don't really get it though). Maybe their generation will be the ones to stop worshipping at the altar of the almighty dollar and see what can be done. More likely they'll be just as bad as us, though.

It boggles the mind...
Like they're going to waive or buy out Redden, and good luck finding takers for those other salaries.
But ok, if they want him and he's happy to go there (Heatley that is), then I want Callahan, Dubinsky, Grachev and Sanguinetti... and a 1st.
That's assuming all those "reports" of the Rangers being interested are true. And if they are, then we're surely taking back salary.

The only salary NY has that I'd be interested in is Lundqvist. So if they want to dump his contract, then so be it. Something tells me they don't want Heatley that bad and that Lundqvist is the only decent big contract they have on their books right now
