Bass stays in Bingo, so does Regin. Extras Winchester and Donovan.

Upon review. It looks like that brings us to about 300k under the cap, without a backup goalie.

Should be easy to deal away about 2 million to make room though.

And then hope everybody plays 82 games.

Neither here nor there if you 1 million in cap space.

I'm not in favour of these players or this scenario. Doesn't mean it can't work though.

Nobody is saying it can't work...but let's have some common sense.

Understand that Murray is our GM and how he runs his ship. Seriously.

You're trading a fairly one-dimensional forward for two younger all-around players capable of notching 25+ each.

Why is is that far fetched that Murray would want to improve his team by bringing in players who can play all facets of the game?

What's your point. I enjoy talking about the Dung that's flying out there. I'll tell you right now that HF is abuzz about this - and they're the same kind of site we are. They will comment on anything going. They will shoot it down if it's false, or they'll confirm it if it's true. That's part of what we do, we talk about each rumour that comes along - or at least I do, and I know there are others who love talking turkey about the NHL.

We're never in a position to break rumours. We got a nice lead on the SJ story way before most other outlets, but that was a one time thing.

I got an amazing tip on the Auld trade and it led to an astounding jump in page loads and guests. This is what we do here - we defuse rumours, we talk hockey, we talk the outlandish, but eventually obviously it's only one guy who has his finger on the button. And he's being paid very, very handsomely for it.

Meanwhile...I'm gonna sift through every rumour I read - with the exception of Eklund - and I'm gonna talk about it.

I'm sure if you poll people, there right there with me on that one.

I sure hope it isn't Old Man Patterson.

I'd move Kelly out and give his spot to either Regin or Bass to play in the 4th line center spot.

Regin on the 4th line? No, just no.

Maybe Bass. Looks like he'd excel in that position. But Regin? That kid is doomed for failure on anywhere other than the third line and up.

Yep, and only if the third line is expected to score (i.e. not centered by Stone-Hands).

One part of me doesn't want Plekanec for the very reason of Regin losing his spot. By the time the dust settles, I would be very surprised if Murray hasn't shuffled a couple of things and Regin has a spot centering line 3.

I still don't see why Regin can't be tried with Alfie and Spezza. Yes, it'd mean moving him to wing, but last year, when he did play in Ottawa, he showed flashes of near-brilliance. He has great puck control, he's reasonably fast, and he is relatively responsible defensively (above average, given his stage of development).

This would allow Kovalev to stay on the second line, on RW, and spread things out a bit.

I also wonder how effective Kovalev would be late in the year and into the playoffs if he's playing first line minutes and PP duty all season.

I hadn't considered that angle, but you are right.
He's old less young than he used to be, so a bit less ice time may help him be more effective when it's more important.

If that rumoured three-way went through, coupled with the signing of a Prospal, we'd instantly become the deepest offensive team in the league I'd say.

Prospal - Spezza - Michalek
Alfredsson - Plekanec - Kovalev
Foligno - Fisher - Shannon
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil

Extras: Donovan, Winchester, Bass

Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson
Prospal - Plekanec - Kovalev
Foligno -Fisher - Shannon
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil

Try this:

Michalek - Spezza - Kovalev
Fisher - Plekanec - Alfredsson
Foligno - Regin - Shannon
Winchester - Bass - Neil
Extra Forward - Donovan

Kuba - Volchenkov
Phillips - Campoli
Picard - Karlsson/Lee
Schubert

Leclaire
Elliott

Kelly and Ruttu are traded for prospect/pick and Lee is in the minors unless Karlsson doesn't make the team.

I gave Elliott 1M this year.

Smith on LTIR.

Comes out just under 53M.

Having said that when is the last time you saw a 3 way deal.

Fisher on the LW? Never happen. Ruutu is not worth trading, you get full value for his miniscule contract. Smith on LTIR is wishful thinking until a firm announcement is made.

I agree that Kovalev has a better chance at success on the Spezza line. The Alfie succeeds wherever he lines up, even if it's with Dung like Plekanec.

On the 3 way deal, upon reflection, I'm not so sure getting only Plekanec and Michalek sits too well with me. We better be getting prospects and/or picks from SJS and MTL.

If the dog licks your foot, is it a 3-way?
