If that rumoured three-way went through, coupled with the signing of a Prospal, we'd instantly become the deepest offensive team in the league I'd say.

Prospal - Spezza - Michalek
Alfredsson - Plekanec - Kovalev
Foligno - Fisher - Shannon
Ruutu - Kelly - Neil

Extras: Donovan, Winchester, Bass

Michalek - Spezza - Alfredsson
Prospal - Plekanec - Kovalev

Are you talking about TBay?
OR
These guys that want Prospal on the Sens?

I personally think it should be both!!!

Yeah a guy at a big time discount who has averaged 27 goals and 58 points over the last 3 seasons to fill in a position for us where we could be potentially very, very weak after the Heatley trade. We must be crazies...

Seriously???
Look at your proposed line-up.
Plus, I didn't know that Prospal accepted your "big time discount". He has shown before that he doesn't care about money.
My bad, sorry.
Seriously, unreal.

No offense, but having your best two right wingers on the second line and Prospal and Michalek on the first in their stead is pretty nutty. Not to mention putting The Alfie on LW...

LOL. Exactly.

Who knows if Prospal would or wouldn't. I would assume he'd be a Duck or a Sens. He liked both places apparently. I would also assume he might not be too interested in Florida or Phoenix etc. but you never know.

PERFECT.
We are over the cap, Bass requests a trade, so does Regin, Winchester starts doing coke and Donovan tells all his friends that he has made around the league by becoming one of the most well-respected NHLer's every to play the game that Ottawa is a joke of an organization.

Please stop this nonsense.

We're on the cap perfectly. This is a great lineup.

About as good as you can get if those players do indeed end up in Senators uniforms.

Let me guess $750,000.

That way when we get a couple injuries, we have room to call someone up.

Don't forget about Comrie...he just looked at his bank account, his Father's trust fund and also saw a transaction receipt from Hilary Duff's last withdrawel at the local ATM and realized he would play for Ottawa for the league minimum.

If Prospal wants to play in the NHL anytime this year, he will have to settle for half or so of what he was making under the last contract. For sure.

Certainly, the precedent is there: Bertuzzi was making $4 mil in ANA, was bought out, then signed a 1 year deal for under $2 mil with CLG; Tucker was making $3 mil in TOR, was bought out, then signed for about $2 mil with COL; Raycroft was making $2 mil in TOR< was bought out, and then signed in COL for $1 mil or whatever.

Buyout bring your value down huge. History and practice have shown this to us again and again.

I'm not advocating picking up Prospal. I'm not a big fan, at all. But if he has any desire to play in this league this year, he won't make a penny over $2 mil.

Not sure we need a Prospal, but it's hard to look at a 25 goal man for 2 million and not at least inquire.

I don't want Plekanek, that's who I don't want. Prospal? Sure, especially if we don't get Plek, instead we get a top prospect like Couture (and Demers please).

But, we have to find a place for Regin. Bass, I don't care if he's unhappy, he'll get a spot soon enough, he'll have to continue to work hard.

Upon review. It looks like that brings us to about 300k under the cap, without a backup goalie.

Should be easy to deal away about 2 million to make room though.

Comrie will be lucky to get 2 million at this stage in the summer. Everyone's made their transactions, signings, trades etc. Where can he go? Edmonton? Nope. So, where's he gonna go and who's gonna fork over a penny over 2 million? Actually, I can see a 1 year, 1.5 contract being signed for Comrie.

IF he gets a contract. IF.

And then hope everybody plays 82 games.

Neither here nor there if you 1 million in cap space.

I'm not in favour of these players or this scenario. Doesn't mean it can't work though.

Nobody is saying it can't work...but let's have some common sense.

Understand that Murray is our GM and how he runs his ship. Seriously.
