OK, late to the game (my kid had the PC, ^&%! Sims 3). No time to read all the comments, so If I am smeeking (look it up, it has to do with the TCF) I apologize.

Kovalev may not replace all of Heatley's goals, but he will score 25-30, no problem -- Spezza is a hell of a lot better passer than Plekanec or whoever centered him last year. That is assuming, of course, that Heatley is dealt and Kovalev slides into his spot.

Alfie will score a hell of a lot more than last year because, lets face it, Kovalev is a great passer as well. Between the two, we've got Heatley's output covered. NB: this is compared to last year, not 2-3 years ago.

We are still missing Vermette's 20-25 goals, but Shannon, Foligno, Regin should pick up enough slack to cover that.

Now, Kovaleve is not as good a one-time expert as Heatley, but he is pretty good. Spezza will still get lots of points. However the part of Kovalev's game that is superior to Heat;ey'a is passing. Combine that with the fact that Spezza is a pretty good shooter himself, and I'd say that Jason will get 30+ this year.

We could have a top line with three 30+ goal scorers. Followed by a second line with three 20-goal scorers. And, depending on who plays on the third line (I want skilled youngsters cutting their teeth) we could have a third line with guys getting 7-10 each.

That is scoring depth.

When was the last time Kovalev scored 39 goals? He has averaged about 65 points over the last four years.

Plekanec, Kostitsyn vs. Spezza Alfredsson. Not close, not a chance. If he plays on the top line (and I think he has to, otherwise he *might* get petulant) he will produce.

I hope Kovy doesnt play on that top line, spread out the scoring. 1st PP unit for sure, but 2nd line winger. There is a guy who can probably help Fisher out.

You are assuming Heatley for Cogliano/Penner, though. Maybe the deal will be very different. Now we don't really need a top-six that much any more. Unless they really want to go for it. Would they? That would be nonsense. Could you imagine, having both Kovalev *and* Heatley?

This puts the sens in a more realistic position to make the big show. Kovy's evolved into quite a complete player, and ottawa needs another vet. Maybe kovy's signing will swindle dany boy back to play.

Whatch sens games for sure, kovy's my favorite player in the league right now, glad to be watching him in ottawa. Kovy in a secondary role, lol he's gonna do well ....

He's actually a lot like Lundqvist and absolutely huge in the net.

Those are two nice ways of describing a future goalie.

Lehner's father coached Lundqvist, so that's why there are a lot of similarities. But he is bigger than Henrik -- 2" and who knows, maybe he'll grow another inch (or get bigger skates )

Lehner was such a great pick. Almost cried when we got him.

Heatley for Marleau we'd still be over the cap, and the Sharks would be over even more than they are now. It can't be that simple. We cannot do a deal with the Sharks unless a third team is involved.

Now, that said, could you imagine Spezza centering the top line, Marleau the second? Fisher has no choice but play wing ( or we'd have a $4M third line center).
