Alfie is still King, but consider this. In the 11 games he just missed the Sens went 5-6. Sure, that's just mediocre, but consider the fact that during this stretch they were also missing Spezza, lost their starter (and backup), Michalek and Kuba for a few games each. Maybe this is a trend. We can still be .500 or close to it with Alfie out of the lineup, where a year or two ago our record with the Captain out was much, much worse.

Consider also that the Sens have a total of 3 PP goals since Spezza's injury.

When the boogie man goes to bed he checks under his bed for Alfredsson.

Interesting. Not that it was clicking before, though. Consider also that Michalek had cooled off significantly, and that started before Spezza went down. Plus I still don't think that Kuba is 100%.

Honestly, though, I cannot fathom why the powerplay is so horrendously bad. Sure, we don't have that #1 back on the point directing it, but with Spezza, Kovalev, Alfredsson plus Fisher and Michalek going to the net, it would have to be above average. The only solace I can find is that Pittsburgh is worse with Malking and Crosby up front and Gonchar on the back-end.

It's got to be coaching, right?

I'm beginning to think that a couple of breaks a year should be mandatory for all players over 30. If you can survive without them, you could be very happy with how fresh they come out after a rest.

When Alfredsson goes outside in the Winter he doesn't wear a coat because the air around him is too scared to be cold around him.

Alfredsson is so good he can go 5 for 4 in an accuracy shooting contest.
