I think we can all agree that Dickey is not the Jays' ace. Jays don't have an ace at all. The gamble with Dickey is not looking very good right now... it's early days in the season... surely they can't be as bad as last season... can they?

Sigh...

It also might be difficult to get free agent pitchers to sign here because of the division we play in. Boston and NY are always good and they literally have money to burn. TB is amazing, Baltimore is up and coming. It's a nightmare division.

Jays lose their home opener. Diddle the Yankees. Take the next two dammit.

4-0 win for The Dickey.

Jays off to a better start this season... won their first series already... would be nice to see them sweep the Astros tonight. Dickey gets the start... should be interesting.

They'll do a lot better when Lawrie, Rasmus and Encarnacion start hitting. I realize Lawrie tagged one last night, but he was hitting .100 going into the game. Same with Rasmus. Encarnacion doesn't have a HR and not even an RBI. We need them.

Melky must be on the juice again. Heh heh.

He was good yesterday, what are people talking about?

I'm talking at a high level since the Jays acquired him. Last night was good. He blinked in the 6th but the Jays bats came alive in the end to take the win.

That's dickey for u. The guy performs okay for most of the game then has a complete meltdown in one inning and blows the game. His consistency and >5 era are hugely disappointing.

And jays do have an ace...his name is Mark Cussing buehrle

Yeah, Buehrle has been amazing.

Dickey will never live up to his Cy Young season, but he's been pretty decent. He gives up that one inning, as you say, but he keeps his troops in the game most of the time.

Morrow's been pretty disappointing as well. But the real culprites are Rasmus, who last I checked was hitting .160 and Lawrie who was hitting .125 recently. That's Cussed - we can't win when those two are hitting like that.

And Encarnacion just hit his first home run last night - and he was tapped to hit 30-40. So he's not doing it yet either.

And Reyes just came back and adds instant speed and fielding to the lineup.

Lots of things still to come together if Toronto is to sniff the post-season.

They have been winning in spite of the lack luster batting. Lawrie I think is a bust, success went to his head too fast. Reminds me of eric hinske, but at least he won the Rookie award. Lawrie has been resting too much on the laurels of being a canadian. He needed to be sent a msg last season and get sent down to AAA. Too bad really....
