last guy that went through this exact scenario for the jays....roy halladay. Amazing performance for BRandon. What a steal by AA

Didn't Halladay do that in his first career start with the Jays? I remember him flirting with the no-no until very late.

Great article - Dave Stieb lost 3 no-hitters, including one perfect game, in the ninth.

crazy. I didn't realize how amazing dave stieb really was. For Brandon, it s a pretty good consolation prize to have a one-hit, complete game shutout with an unbelievable 17 Ks. and haha what's up with Tampa Bay and being no-hit? happened twice to them this season, plus another time last season.

I hear you man. No other sport quenches my thirst for hockey. Summers are hard. Right now i'm counting down the days till NHL 11 (September 7th) because I look to that as what is going to keep me sane until October 8th.

Me too. I can't wait to play my first 100 hours of NHL 11. :0

I just became a baseball fan this season (seems like all my favorite hockey people are also huge baseball fans, too, plus I needed "live sport" in the summer to keep me sane) and picked the Jays because there are so many hockey crossover fans being in Canada. Man, did I ever pick a helluva season to start watching these guys!

A Canadian friend gave me his MLB.tv package once he went back to Canada for the summer so I've gotten to watch them most of the season and I'm spoiled rotten. Except for Kevin Gregg. He can take a flying leap.

Yeah, I was reading your blog. Hell of a weekend this past weekend, huh? We might not witness something like that again for a long, long time.

Interesting note: there's a group of hardcore baseball analysts who grade pitchers performances. Holliday's perfect game got a 98 out of 100, Morrow's 1 hitter (with 17 Ks) got 100. A perfectly pitched game sounds about right to me too.

Jays lock up Ricky Romero for 5 years, 30.1 million with a club option for a 6th. Excellent news, this kid is amazing. He's gonna be one of the best in the AL in the next 3 years.

I don't think he will be one of the best in the AL, but he is pretty good. Good signing.

Well, it depends on what you consider one of the best...Top 10? Top 20?

I think he'll consistently put himself in the top 10 in the AL in 3ish years. He's got the stuff, he's got the attitude, his mechanics are great.

Also, Shawn Marcum last night had devastating stuff. Another no-hitter into the 7th inning for the Jays this year - Marcum lost the no-hitter in the 7th, but then retired the final 9 hitters for a 1 hit, CG victory.

Amazing stuff. People should be watching the Jays to get a sneak peak at how good they'll be.
