Oh, they're in sell mode alright.

Next questions, in no specific order:

1.What can we get for Bautista vs what can we extend him for

2.What can we get for Buck

3.Anyone want Overbay?

4.I wouldn't trade Lewis, but if an offer came in that was mind-blowing, I'd think about it.

5.Does anyone want Jose Molina - and if so, what's the offer?

6.Anyone need a DH/3B with some pop? Encarnacion is available as well.

7.Jesse Litch is available I'm sure to a team that needs some P depth.

Yesterday was just the beginning.

Trade them all, I'll say. Bautista and Buck should be traded for sure. This team hasn't drafted a future catcher in a long time. Encarnacion, molina, overbay are all stop gaps that need to be gone asap. In terms of Litsch, he's shown flashes of brilliance but seems to lose it for the next few starts. Kinda like Romero, but he's not half as bad. Listch I think should be demoted to AAA instead (maybe once Mcgowan comes back, which won't be till next season. Or ever I feel).

Definitely. Now if they could get a better bull pen going. IMO that's been their folly for the last 3-4 seasons. Their starters are excellent, but bull pen usually blows it and if starters faulter, the hitters are just waay too inconsistent to follow up a comeback. I think this move also signals that they've thrown in the towel for the season, obviously, with the Rays, Yanks, and Sox miles ahead of them in the standings. Hopefully with less pressure, they can turn this sinking ship around.

yeah and it also seems like the mantra of the jays to just end the season on a high note. carry it over for the first two months of next season, and crash and burn, and repeat cycle. That's good to know about Escobar though, i'm surprised the Braves just gave up on him...? I think its bobby cox's last season, and since they're in a fight for the playoffs, they're just going all out to get to the world series with....alex gonzales. Head scratcher on Atlanta's part for sure Toronto Blue Jays Talk - Page 9 484884

Hey where'd that head scratcher emoticon go?? lol

We have an electrifying catcher prospect in Arencibia and another in Perez (I think). Definitely Arencibia (possible sp) is a huge prospect and while I don't know much about Perez, he's "apparently" a nice prospect as well from those who have seen him.

Overbay's warming 1st for...Cooper I think. I can't remember who we have coming up for 3B, but we also have Snider in the wings.

Geez...some interesting years coming up for the Jays, they have some real potential to be awesome.

I don't usually talk baseball but, Travis D'Arnaud is a catcher prospect who is rated quite highly, he was acquired in the Roy H deal. Brett Wallace will play 1B for the next 10 years I imagine, the future at SS is all Cuban with yesterday's trade and the signing of a young Cuban this spring who they are extremely high on. Aaron Hill is signed for a while at 2nd and Adam Lind's future seems to be at DH. They still need to address 3B to fill out the infield of the future. Snider is a corner outfielder and I would imagine that if they like David Cooper they may move him to LF as he works through the minors. I think they may try to sign Juan Batista to a multi-year deal as he is only in his late 20's. The pitching looks to be setup nice for the future, they just need some outfield prospects and a power hitting 3B prospect for the future to look very, very bright.

Yesterday was just the beginning.

My view;
1. I agree. AA has to be balancing what he can get Bautista signed for vs what he can get for him in trade. Keeping in mind that Bautista can play outfield and the jays are weak in outfield prospects.
2+5. You are probably right but I would prefer that they keep both catchers. Both are relatively cheap, both are hitting well, both are very good with the young Jay pitchers. The Jays have good prospects in minors but there is no reason to rush them up this year. If ready, let Arencibia start 2011 with the big club. Move D'arnaud to AAA. Keep Molina another year. If Buck keeps his All Star year going, he potentially gets a good contract somewhere else and the Jays get a compensatory pick.
3. I agree that Overbay is likely trade bait. He is hitting well (look at his stats after his horrible first two months) and plays average to above average D at first.
4. I agree. lewis is probably going to remain leadoff for the rest of the year. However if an offer comes along, you got to look at it.
6. EE is probably not a sought after commodity. A below average D, not known for his hustle, below average batting average but when he does connect with the ball, he hits home runs.
7. Litsch is young, controllable and cheap. He just came back from major surgery. I would think that they may want to protect this asset and play him in minors or in relief till next year. I expect AA remembers Carpenter and how Toronto gave up on him after he had a major injury.

I also don't see AA selling off just to get prospects, except maybe outfield prospects. If he can sell and get an established player like escobar, I think he will do the trade. The Jays are not in a cash cutting mode.

Figured since the Jays were basting Tampa Bay this afternoon that I'd mention that Jays star catching prospect Arencibia hit a home run off the first pitch of the his first career at-bat.

And he's just hit another home run. The Jays might have a special young man here.

Ridiculous game, I'm so happy to be a part of seeing that initial first pitch home run. The rest was gravy, great day for the hitters! Go Jays.

Worth mentioning that Morrow gave up his no-hitter in the 9th inning with two out. He also struck out 17 on the day. Jays sweep the Rays.

Man the Jays rotation is looking damm good for the future... Morrow has nasty stuff, Romero and Marcum are both solid number 2's, Cecil is solid and we got Drabek in the minors with a few others... These guy's are fun to watch!
