Jays lock up Ricky Romero for 5 years, 30.1 million with a club option for a 6th. Excellent news, this kid is amazing. He's gonna be one of the best in the AL in the next 3 years.

I don't think he will be one of the best in the AL, but he is pretty good. Good signing.

Well, it depends on what you consider one of the best...Top 10? Top 20?

I think he'll consistently put himself in the top 10 in the AL in 3ish years. He's got the stuff, he's got the attitude, his mechanics are great.

Also, Shawn Marcum last night had devastating stuff. Another no-hitter into the 7th inning for the Jays this year - Marcum lost the no-hitter in the 7th, but then retired the final 9 hitters for a 1 hit, CG victory.

Amazing stuff. People should be watching the Jays to get a sneak peak at how good they'll be.

Already there my friend. They're looking amazing right now. However, I'm still a little peeved at AA for trading Brett Wallace for a relative unknown. Also sucks about Marcum losing the no-hit bid, this has happened like 3-4 times this season with the jays

8 times this year I read, twice by Marcum, Morrow, Romero, Litch (into the 6th, doesn't count)...damn, I can't remember the rest.

As for Wallace, AA said he was going after Gose from the beginning of the trade negotiations for Hallady all the way to the moment he got him. AA is an amazing baseball mind IMO, one of the most astute, he wouldn't do it for nothing, he must believe in him big time.

He wanted Gose because he wants athletic players, like the Jays of old. He wants a guy who plays solid D and can steal bases and be aggressive on the basepaths.

As for Romero, I'm not sure if he can be Top 10, as there is a lot of pitching talent in the AL (Lee, Sabathia, Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Price, Hernandez, Verlander, Weaver, Greinke, etc.), but the potential is certainly there.

The Jays look to have a bright future, but so do the other 3 teams ahead of them in the East. It's gonna be a while before they can really compete in that division, and even then it will be tough because the Red Sox and Yankees rarely fall down to mediocrity.

They picked up Gose because they saw draft projections for the next 5 years, and there weren't many - if any - exciting OF prospects whereas the next three years are apparently loaded with corner infielders with star potential.

That too, they're loaded with talent in the infield. Such an intriguing time to be a Jays fan, they're coming and soon they might be pretty decent.

that's interesting. Hope he can get a solid replacement for Wallace, I did kinda have my heart set on him manning first base for us Crying

Hopefully Lind or Snider learns to play 1st base for a bit. Only thing scares me about those two is that their fielding at 1st base isn't natural as it is for Overbay

Yeah, this is a big deal. Drabek is a STUD. I hope the D plays well and the Jays score some runs for him. Reminds me of Morrow a lot, this kid.

Next year is looking very promising. I don't know if Drabek makes it next season but if he performs well tomorrow, he very well might make it.

Rotation could potentially be Marcum, Romero, Morrow, Cecil and Drabek next season. That's one good looking rotation.

What they need to solidify is their inconsistent batting lineup. Ir eally hope Bautista and Wells can duplicate, but Lind and Hill need to get back to their previous season form. Escobar is a pleasant surprise

They've got Arencibia looking at a roster spot next year and hopefully Snider can develop into a solid lead off hitter, although Escobar seems to have all the makings of a player who fits that mold.

As for the rotation, I think within the next year or two, Morrow will be the ace of the staff. He has some sick sick stuff and is a power throwing pitcher who throws tons of strikes. Marcum and Romero could round out a legit top 3. Drabek is probably still at least a year away. He'll most likely start in AAA next year and work his way up to spot starts.

The Jays really need to look at their relief pitching though. And they need to establish a better closer than Gregg. That will be their downfall next year if it doesn't get addressed.

48 Home Runs for Bautista - a new franchise record for the Jays eclipsing George Bell's previous mark set in 1987.

Here's a legit question: does Bautista deserve to win an MVP award?

if we talk value in terms of bang for the buck, definitely Bautista deserves that. But in terms of the real MVP award given, he doesn't since his team didn't even gt a sniff near competition for a penant and knowing the 'unwritten' criteria, that's a must. Also the batting average was too low for an mvp. Its probably the quietest 100+ RBIS and 50 hr season we'll ever witness since, well, the impact just wasn't there for the Jays. But he deserves alot of recognition for the amazing job he's done. Congrats to him, he's written his name in history now

In my mind, the AL mvp will be either Josh Hamilton, Vladimir Guerrero, or Miguel Cabrera (despite his team not making the big dance).

Yeah, I'm not sure to be honest. Is an MVP a guy who leads his team to a .500 record? I'm not saying there's anything more he could have done for the Jays, but wouldn't someone like Hamilton who lead his team to the post-season (it looks like) be more deserving? Or does it come down to the Jays record without Bautista and the chance that they could have lost a lot more games?

If it's base on pure, individual statistics then I think he's got a good shot to win. What a feat of power, great run producer, 100 runs and a canon of an arm in the outfield, plus can play an excellent third. It still could be close though, Crawford, Hamilton, about six Yankees, there've been a lot of pretty good years.
