Who are these fans you speak of ? Laugh1

They are a little shorter and share the same last name.

That took me a second. Nice one, prags. Laugh1

In the never ending saga... the deal looks to be closer to dead than alive...

Oddly enough, the lockout is probably saving the city some money...

Summary report:

A summary of the main points from the Arena Management Agreement approved on June 8, 2012, is as follows:
• The NHL team stays in Glendale for 20 years, the same amount of time remaining on the original bonds for the arena.
• The city receives 15% of the naming rights revenue for the arena.
• The city does not issue any new debt to support this agreement directly.
• The city pays an average arena management fee of $15 million per year which was net present valued at $203.7 million using a 6.5% discount rate.
• Analysis conducted by independent outside experts concludes that, in their opinion, the deal:
o Meets the constitutional test against gifting by the city.
o The financial position for the city with the team in place will be better than managing the arena without the team.
o This conclusion was arrived at without the inclusion of any revenue from the Westgate development, which is expected to at least double over the life of the team’s stay.

City of Glendale set to vote tonight on the rejigged lease deal...

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8683098/glendale-city-council-expected-vote-phoenix-coyotes-lease-agreement-city

If the council does not approve the lease agreement, it's expected that would end Jamison's bid to buy the Coyotes and throw the team's future in Arizona back into doubt. A new set of councilors and a new mayor will take office in January, and new officials, including Mayor-elect Jerry Weiers, have indicated they will not support the re-worked lease agreement.

Is this the end? Again?

The deal would pay Jamison $320 million

Baffling. Am I jealous? Hells yeah.

Dare we dream?

1) Glendale City votes against the new lease
2) Jamison abandons his attempt to purchase Coyotes
3) Team is moved to Quebec
4) Make it 8 is a reality!

Huzzah!

Now, if only we had hockey...

Well, they approved the deal!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=410428

The deal passed by a vote of 4-2 and is conditional on the purchase of the Coyotes being completed by January 31, 2013.

Wow.

So, if the purchase is not completed by Jan. 31, 2013... then we're back at square one?

Won't be a problem with $320 million in future receivables.

It might get tied up a bit when he tries to get that number increased. Only $320 million? Pfft. He should be getting PAID. $1B or nothing, I say. Laugh1

It is interesting to note that the council that approved this deal is the outgoing council. The new one that was voted in back in Nov. does not take over until the new year.

The new council was openly against the new deal so it would have had very little chance of surviving.

If this does go back to a vote, chances are it won't get the same support.

They needed 6900 signatures to bring this to a referendum but fell way short. This means that the controversial deal to pay Greg Jamison (prospective buyer of the Coyotes) $300M over 20 years for arena management will not be brought to a vote. One more hurdle passed. He's expected to purchase the team Jan. 31.
