if anything Ruutu was light in a dark dark tunnel this year, made me laugh even when we were sure to lose a game. OK, that's no reason but you gotta love what he does. he creates more penalties or 4 on 4 then anyone else. if anything a combination of ruutu and bass replace neil. and yes at that salarie it's a steal. who will surprise? good question... for some reason i'll say karlsson... but for not being the saviour we so need on the blueline. well for the start of the season anyway.

We're getting away from the topic at hand. I'll second the vote for Karlsson. As for Regin, I'm kinda excited about everyone being excited but, to be honest, I did not really see all that much of what he can do when he was here (which wasn't much). So, I'm not saying you're all wrong, I'm just saying I hope you are right Smile So in that way, I guess Regin *would* surprise me if he took a regular shift on the third or *gasp* second.

I wouldn't be overly surprised to see a guy like Regin make the team but what I'm talking about is a guy making an immediate impact and knocking a Veteran out of his seemingly locked up position. In fact even when Meszaros was in his rookie season he never really stole anyones spot.

If Zach Smith is your pick then by surprise I mean he jumps into the 2nd or 3rd line roll and excels while racking up 15 to 20 goals and 40 to 50 points.

This is a great pick. The guy was the MVP of the B-Sens last year - and for good reason. He provided some clutch offense, but he also has a fantastic energy about him. Perfect 4th line player. Problem for us is that he doesn't have a contract for next year and is a UFA. If he accepts a 2-way contract, I could see him coming into the Sens training camp and taking Donovan's spot.

the prospects have it sweet down in B-town with Denis Hamel there, what that guy has done for this organization in terms of young players, he deserves all the credit in the world and he demands none, all around team guy for sure.

If I win the 40-million, I'm moving the B-Sens to Cornwall. Anyone want a job in pro hockey?

I'm going to say no one we currently have as a prospect will knock my socks off. I think E. Karlsson has the potential to be lights out right out of the gate though. I think if we have a prospect of that calibre it will come out of the draft this year IMO.

So anyone else think that none of the Sens prospects will surprise us this season?

Peter Regin will surprise people that don't know about him. He's for real.

Zach Smith will probably surprise a little as well, even if he goes back to the AHL.

The wildcard is potentially Jim O'Brien. What coach wouldn't want a big, burly kid to work with who loves to hit and has a laser beam for a wrist shot? Clouston could work wonders with him (better than Curtis Hunt IMHO).

That might be the off the board pick you're looking for.

Meh, I think's Smith "surprise" camp was last year. Everyone took notice of him then and has now made a name for himself within the organization.

Regin will be the kid that makes the most noise, will it be a surprise? Prob not. If anyone actually surprises the coach I think it will be Maldin for the simple fact not a lot of people know about the guy, and I was also impressed with him in a pre season game vs Philly where he played pretty well IMO. Speed to burn.

Maybe Glass found a magic lamp, made 3 wishes, and has turned into an OK AHL goaltender.
