When the play someone else not worthy, we'll see how good Team Canada is.

Didn't they come within mere minutes of winning the Gold last year? And it was neither Spezza nor Heatley's fault that they didn't.

So...technically, Spezza is a Silver Medal Winner. Yippie, but still...

Spezza has a few silvers, WJC too. You dont win silver (unless its the cup), you lose gold.

I absolutly hate this tournament. The only year it had any real merit outside of Europe was the lockout year. This is a tourny full of current losers.

Meh. Just don't watch or comment on it then.

I think it's great that they're there voluntarily for their country and doing really well.

The olympics are coming up so them going this year isnt exactly impressive. The only guys I'm somewhat happy for are Stamkos, Schenn, and Doughty.

Cant believe the Sens did all the damage today for The Canadians.

these players could have easily just said nah and went home to sulk for a couple of months, so them going on to Switzerland to play under the canadian flag is an honour. if I was an NHLer and my team didn't make the playoffs, I would be hoping for that call from the GM of canada.

I tried streaming this game yesterday but could only find poor quality feeds; one in Danish, the other in some other language I don't understand. Did anyone find any English streams that I could use for the next game? I couldn't even find any websites that showed the live score or a box score afterward. Also, could somebody post the lines for this game? Thanks!

tsn.ca should be streaming them. Are they not?

I looked but couldn't find it. But then again, I am no longer watching from Canada, so I don't think it would work anyways. I used my P2P yesterday as ATDHE did have the game.

I don't know how to help you out in regards to streams, but if you want to watch the one you missed, TSN has the whole game online in its Video On Demand section.

I believe the 2009 World Juniors' games might still be there as well. cool)

If Heatley is the tourny MVP again, who cares, same with Spezza or Fisher, who cares. Its a tournament with extremely weak opponites and players who failed to either make it to the playoffs or got knocked out early.

There might be 2 or 3 guys from this team that are on the olympic team. Sure it would be nice if Canada won (I dont even think they will make it to the finals) but this tournament is more of a testiment to a Senators team that underachived and only played hard when they wanted to.

Its sickening that the Sens have the most players in this tournament of any NHL team. Pisses me off more than anything.

No, it's not "players who failed to make it" it's players from teams that failed to make it. Are you going to say to me that Higgins is a better player than Lecavalier because the Habs made it and the Bolts didn't?

2 or 3 from this team on the Olympic team, are you serious?

Oh ya bud, who is going to be on the Olympic team eh? Heatley.... then I struggle.

Weber, Phillips, Doan, Heatley, St. Louis, and Spezza all have a real chance of making it.

and don't forget about Ian White Sarcasm

Weber will be there for sure, I would say St Louis might, Doan an outside shot, Phillips and Spezza, no shot.

Like I said, 2 or 3 guys will be there, thats about it. Only 2 locks are Heatley and Weber. St Louis I would lay odds saying he will.

Way too deep on D for Phillips to get the call, and Spezza isnt even a consideration at this point with Getzlaf, Crosby, Lecailvier, Savard, Richards, Carter, Toews, Staal, Thornton, who are all ahead of him on Canada's depth list.

Love Phillips but he really doesnt have a shot, and Spezza, well, he has no shot, lets leave it at that.

Canada plays Hungary today. Former 67s goalie in nets for the Hungarians.

I don't think it should be much of a challenge though. But Hungary played well in the opener.

Anyone see this hit by Scott Upshall on the Hungarian player Benk?

Upshall received a match penalty and a one game suspension.

One wonders why he wasn't simply suspended from the tournament.

This is supposed to be a friendly international competition, representing one's nation for pride and demonstrating sportsmanship.

Upshall seems to think he's still in Philly.

I'm on the fence as to how to think about it.

I mean, that is (as some would argue) how North Americans play this sport of ours; having said that, did he absolutely HAVE to treat this Hungarian player the same as he would an NHL brother? Maybe, maybe not. Whether this fella had his head down or not, I'm personally torn on whether he could have let up a little bit, while at the same time admiring the huge hit.

Was definitely nasty, but they also showed the hit he had on the German player a few years ago, I say hit, but it was an elbow clearly, that one was even nastier, sheesh, Canada might have to stop inviting this guy.

International rules are different from NHL rules, and this is an international tournament.

Upshall received an automatic one-game suspension, and according to RDS, the IIHF is considering a more severe sanction.

As they should.

This was a gratuitous act. Completely unnecessary in a game where Canada totally outclassed the weaker opponent.

In my opinion, Upshall should be banned from international play.
