So, here's my nit pick on that goal.... Heater is KNOWN for that and in the NHL, they can see it coming and are ALL OVER HIM... here in the IIHF he can pull that off a lot easier... Heater needs to adapt more in the NHL me thinks....

Too negative?

I hear you on that one Cronie, I would never dare say something like that either, I would be resting somewhere that no can find me lol.

no, not at all negative Shabbs, its true, most people know he is a one trick pony and they stop that one timer, time to adapt if he wants to score 50 again.

Bang on boys!

They're onto Heater's tricks as much as they are onto Spezza (why do you think there's always a forward trailing Spezza as he's about to cross the blueline? because they KNOW he'll perform his 'trademarked drop-pass) so really, both of these guys need to change it up.

I like the poker analogy: you have to change it up regularly and switch gears, otherwise you increase the odds or likelihood that opposing players can get a better fix or read on you. Same applies in the NHL IMHO.

boom and its a 6-1 win to start the tourney, could have been better, but they turned it up a notch in the 3rd. Bring on the next opponent.

Well, hopefully Clouston can convince them that the jig is up and to get a new set of tricks.

I think Heater and Spezza were one of only a few bright spots this year. Let's not forget everyone's point totals were hurt under teh Hartsburg regime.

I don't understand why the negativity is always centered around those two. What about Kelly? What about Neil? What about Phillips for that matter? All had brutal years compared to those before them. 39 goals, is still a pretty decent tally in today's NHL, not to mention Spezza's 32.

The Sens are going to be just fine. Trust me, those bandwagons will be full again next year.

Easy there jam... the reason we're talking about those two now is because... they were playing in the game we were watching.

Simple as that.

I was reflecting on the patented Heater "send me the puck so I can one-time it" move that is not so effective in the NHL anymore.

This was not a re-evaluation of the Sens' performance this year.

I wasn't coming down on anyone. Each game is different, each play is different. IT's not a video game, it's real life and these NHLers adapt and change all the time. I just don't think sayin gteams are onto Spezza and Heatley that way is true in any fashion whatsoever.
