Different conference factor - I'll admit there are a number of Western teams were I could potentially make a statement as foolish as that one.

That's true. I think it must be the same way for them: most people in the East don't really appreciate how good some defencemen in the West are, like Zbynek Michalek or until this year Keith Ballard.

^And I include myself in that: I know/knew about Z and Ballard but there are probably dozens of awesome defencemen I don't know about.

Duncan Keith is another guy who should be much, much more appreciated out West.

I'm one of the Ballard non-believers who turned into a fan. Michalek I've been watching, but how do you make an assessment on a guy on such a blah team?

How About since Carey is sliding away, Why not Trade Carey Price for Cam Ward. i think those 2 goalies are pretty even..what ya think?? i dont think they would ever so that but its just somthing i would like to see.

Oh man...as much as I dislike Carey Price, I think he blows Ward out of the water. Not even remotely close. I would do that deal twice over if I was Carolina, but Montreal will be willing to wait his out I think.

Price has a lot more upside than Ward if he can get these issues under control, if he is damaged goods, don't see Carolina doing this. Mind you, you might be onto something nash, a change of scenery sometimes does players good.

All he said was that he wouldn't ask most of his NTCd players to waive. Doesn't mean he's necessarily interested in dealing non-NTC players like Volchenkov or Elliott.

The basic breakdown of the deal seemed to be Chris Campoli for a first round pick, as the other two parts -- Mike Comrie and Dean McAmmond
-- were very similar. They both have contracts that expire this summer
and weren't doing a whole lot of anything offensively for their teams.

That wasn't the worst of it.

Why the Senators had initial interest in Comrie is beyond me. Maybe
they think he can help get them back in the playoff race. More likely,
they didn't have any interest at all. I figure Islanders' GM Garth Snow probably said something to the effect of "you can have Campoli, but you need to take Comrie off our hands."

Here's the clincher, for me:

those players. Now, maybe it looked like they weren't going to be able

That something being McAmmond.

So they essentially traded Campoli for a 1st rounder (in the first paragraph). But it's no secret that they want to unload their vets for picks. He just contradicted himself.

I got some stuff on our college prospects from there, but now I'm wondering if I should just delete that bookmark.
