I guess my concern with him is A) can he do things on his own, or is he just one of those guys who thrives around other good players? B) can he dominate a game, or just be like Heatley and put up a few points and otherwise be invisible, C) can he be as effective despite not being overly physical or overly fast or overly large, and D) can people spell his name right, unlike the "Stall" brothers, or are we going to have to suffer through a variety of "Taveres," "Taveras", "Tavaras" or "Tavres" as I've seen.

I doubt it'll be as annoying as the years of 'Speeza' we had to endure. I even remember some people pronouncing Steve Duchesne's name Doo-Chezzz-neeee

When you refer to "Speeza" are you talking about how that made it's way into NHL 2K7 i think it was... or maybe 2K6, I forget the year.

As for "Doo'chez-nee' I think its that renegade S in the middle that threw people off... I mispronounced it the first time I read his name.

At least with Tavares it'll only be a matter of spelling, and probably not pronunciation.

And, of course, Magnus Svensson-Paajarvi is not exactly the easiest thing to spell either. Razz

Just calling him MSP is an easy out there. I've already heard a few versions of his name though. Pie-jar-vee, Pee-yar-vee etc.

I'm assuming that since it's a Finnish name, the j would be silent, no?

I've heard some broadcasters call him Par-Ya-vee, but I'm pretty sure that's a mistake.

I call him Pa-Yar-Vee.

That sounds right. I'll just call him MSP lol. Is it wrong it to be this excited for the draft before the All-Star game?

Yes. We're setting ourselves up for disappointment. There's a very strong chance we'll "turn it around" and end up 10-11th in the conference. 🇳🇴

That will still fetch a nice player, but the though of having a top 3-5 pick is really the only consolation for me this season Sad

I don't think SJ's pick (unless they get bounced in the 1st round, then it's the 22nd pick) would be enough to package with say a 10th pick, to move up to the top 5.

So close, yet so far. There is still hope for Tank Nation though, Tampa is playing better, St. Louis is staying ahead of us.

Heh, that's still nice, but it's not Hedman or Tavares.

I'm hoping we get a second pick in the Kadri range, though.

And Atlanta has found a saviour in Rich Peverley. Razz

For real. 6 points in 3 games now. And to think Nashville is struggling badly offensively.

In a battle of the beasts of the East, Washington drops Boston 2-1.

Ovechkin held off the score-sheet, but Semin picked up the slack with an absolute rocket for the game-winner.

Semin's shot is out of this world.

Also, Crosby absolutely deked Redden out of his pants in the Rags-Pens game but failed to convert on the ensuing penalty shot.

Redden looks just awful.
