Smyth and Hejduk each get goal #300 vs. the Flames.

This is an Avs team that won't quit even in the face of such adversity.

Also, Crosby absolutely deked Redden out of his pants in the Rags-Pens game but failed to convert on the ensuing penalty shot.

Redden looks just awful.

I don't get why the Avs didnt take a gamble on Emery. It's not like he wouldnt have good guys to learn from both on and off the ice. Raycroft or Emery, hmmm ... Rolling Eyes

Per TSN:

Colorado placed Ian Laperriere on the injured reserve Sunday with a balky back. The gritty forward joins Sakic (back and hand), Paul Stastny (broken forearm), Adam Foote (triceps), Philippe Dupuis (foot) and Cody McCormick (foot) on the sideline.

Enough Injuries?

Raycroft has actually been pretty good for them.

What is it with Leafs cast-offs doing well after they leave?

Wellwood has excelled in Vancouver and now Raycroft is playing well in Colorado?

Colaicovo also I believe had an assist on the game-tying goal for St. Louis against Boston with about 0.1 seconds left in the 3rd period.

Unbelievable come-back, and the net result was that the worst team in the West ended up beating the best team in the East.

Also, Ovechkin takes over the goal-scoring lead with 31, scoring both goals in a 2-1 overtime win against NYI.

I mean, at least they got a point, but NYI physically cannot win a game, it seems.

Getting hopeful for Tavares is useless, because he's pretty much guaranteed to be in Blue and Orange.

I think my views are well known. I'll gladly settle for the "scraps" at #2 behind Johnny Boy. I still maintain that the 1st overall pick will come down to need. But it's looking like the Islanders are a lock for dead last. With their luck, they'll end up with the 3rd pick.

Hedman..by any means necessary. He's already big, thicker, and reportedly stronger than Pronger was at this age. He's doesn't have Pronger's nastiness, but he's in a different league skating wise and has more offensive potential than we've ever seen from Pronger. I could live without a dominant physical game from Hedman, because he has really good gap control.

Yes, I too could "stomach" getting Victor Hedman. Razz

Especially since I believe Taylor Hall is far closer to (or perhaps better than) Tavares is, whilst Fowler is not close to VH(4)1.

But I really want this 2nd line centre conundrum settled. We've never had a real 1-2 centre punch.

Maybe Regin can fill the void, maybe he can't. I think I'd prefer O'Brien in the third line slot with Foligno and Z. Smith on his wings.

That high on Taylor Hall eh? Honestly, I don't know much about his game, but if he's in Tavares' neighbourhood, I'm sold. I often talk about Tavares' shortcomings but in fairness to him, he thinks the game on a supreme level.

I would love to get a real 2nd line centreman too. That way we could move Fisher. That contract grows uglier by the day it seems.

That would make a great 3rd line in a few year. A real tough line to play against that can crash the net and contribute some offense.

Funny you should say that, I find the Fisher contract gets less vile by the day. We're going in different directions there. Smile

A lot of people are (in regards to Hall).

He's definitely a competitor for the #1 pick in 2010 with Kabanov, Pulkkinen and Granlund (amongst others). McFarland wouldn't be a terrible pick-up either.

Still, 1 1/2 years to wait for a centre who will only be 18 by then is a long time.

How so? What's he up to now? 5 goals? Be still my heart. My dislike of his contract is also heightened by the fact that we are carrying other large contracts. If we had all the cap room we needed to make all the necessary moves, I wouldn't mind so much. I just don't think he's worth 100k less of a cap hit than Alfie is.

Fisher + Vermette are making a combined 7 million. I know they're contributing on the PK, but when you make that money and have 10 goals, 29 points and are -23...

We needed these guys to be consistent secondary scorers. They haven't been. Fisher's game-tying goal doesn't change that.
