I'd say we're pretty mean. Fisher, Neil, Volchenkov and Schubert are great hitters who will sometimes cross the line. Alfredsson, too, and he'll hit you with a puck as well. Then we've got Spezza spearing people and Sharko Ruutu.

I'd say we're mean enough. Kronwall and Stuart are hitters, they're not Chris Prongers though.

Chicago is another team that doesn't really have mean-ness but succeeds.

I'd much prefer targetting skill and speed than more intangibles.

Because, right now our results are intangible.

Sharko Ruutu. Hee-hee, har-har.

Sharko. Also known as 'Jaws' Ruutu...the competitor with an insatiable hunger for wins. A player who takes a bite out of the opposition.
:lol!:

Columbus is looking strong. Nash with the hat-trick goal in OT to beat the Wings. Add in Mason's strong goaltending and I wouldn't want to run into them in the playoffs. affraid

this will be the first time a rookie wins the Vezina since The Eagle did it.

I'm saying it right now. If he continues this hot play and gets Columbus into the playoffs, not only will he win the Calder and possibly the Vezina, but I think the Hart trophy has to be talked about. No goaltender has ever won all 3 in their rookie year (obviously).

Go to HB and have a look at the Devil's in game "blog". It's ridiculous, and a good indication of what that site has become :x

I say columbus needs to get at least 2nd in their division and into the 2nd round of the playoffs for him to win hart. right now I have a tough time arguing against Ovie repeating.

They have other weapons though. Columbus has had injury issues and Mason seems destined to will them into the playoffs.

what worries me is that Mason could just be a product of the system. Leclaire played similar last year, and didnt even get nominated for vezina.

Now this Datsyuk/Lidstrom thing becomes a real controversy.

It took them OT to beat the Wings. Do you not think that adding the best defenceman in the game (although perhaps Weber beats him this season) and the reigning Selke winner/one of the best offensive forwards in the game might not change that, even if they are a little hurt?

If you're Vancouver or another team trying to make the playoffs in the West, aren't you upset about this?

I dunno. I was hoping Detroit would win this game so that it became a non-issue.

Maybe. Funny thing is, Columbus won't make a stink obviously, and Detroit won't since they are such as classy organization.

But other teams competing with Columbus might very well.

Detroit obviously doesn't care. They could practically pack it up for the rest of the season and still make the playoffs (so I'm exaggerating).

I can't take credit for this idea though, it was a surprisingly thought-inducing article from Scanlan in the Citizen today.

On a different note, I'll remain a staunch Hedman supporter but Tavares' work with the London Knights is staggering.

With 4 goals and 2 assists tonight he know has something like 20 points in 7 games with the Knights (albeit he's only +5).

He and Kadri have really lit it up. JT has overtaken Hall for the points lead and overtaken DiBennedetto for the goal-scoring lead.

Wow. That's ridiculous. I'd take him on my team anyday. Just not over Hedman.

Give him one more goal and he'd be on a pace of 2G, 1A per game. :pale:

Yeah, he's really thriving. NYI might want to find a way to draft Kadri as well. Razz
