2.Vermette to Nashville for Hamhuis
3.Ottawa will take on significant salary. They acquire Hejduk or Cheechoo for Chris Kelly and a 2nd rounder. :D

These sound interesting...where did you get wind of them?

BTW given what Poile said today about standing pat, do you think he would swap Hamhuis for Vermette?

"The Milwaukee team is playing really well, winning and a lot of guys are scoring. A lot of guys (like Patric Hornqvist and Ryan Jones) have 20 more games experience from when we sent them down.


"I think we've drafted well and I think these guys are playing as well as anyone in the AHL. So if we are going to make changes, I'd certainly feel comfortable going to Milwaukee.''


"There are probably quite a few teams that wouldn't mind making a trade, but it's hard with the salary cap situation to do that. I think you're going to see more happen at the trade deadline, but right now it's not a big market of available players.''

I just made them all up to be honest. :D I can't help thinking that a Vermette for Hamhuis is a perfect fit for both teams. And look what happens when you allow Vermette some creativity and some talent (Heatley), he jumps to almost a PPG player. I think this trade is more than fair - and I think it's a real, good old hockey trade.

I still think Ottawa is taking on more salary though. Hejduk is just a dream of mine, but Cole, Cheechoo, Backstrom (good call whoever said that) someone.

I'd stay clear of Minnesota goalies.

The only reason I might agree is that apparently there's a big Finnish contingent in Minny and he feels very comfortable (I read it in the Hockey News).

I don't think there's a really big Finnish community here. As for his abilities, I would say they're elite. He was back-up to Tim Thomas in Europe for a while, then he established himself as one of the premiere goalies in the World, which finally translated to NHL success.

I would love to have him.

I'm a little leery of Backstrom as well. I just don't know if he could be a good goaltender in the kind of system Ottawa has traditionally played.
