If you watched the game yesterday you would actually realize what an Elite player looks like, ie Nash, and just exactly what Spezza is.

Well I have to say that I thank God for finding this website so I can come here and have Neely4Life enlighten me with his all of his hockey wisdom

Neely your posts are the equivalent of a little child constantly crying!

Your posts are for the most part to complain about someone else or their views. How is that any better?

My posts are not to complain, at least they are intended to be, I am not the best at writing so it may come across that way.

Neely is so critical of the Sens it hardly seems like he is a fan. Yeah sure, the Sens suck this year and might suck next but fans like N4L are prime example of a band wagon fan.

I certainly wouldn't say it's bandwagon jumping. It's a realistic view if you ask me. Sure, he's incredibly vocal about his disdain for Spezza, and generally has a negative attitude right now about the team, but there isn't really anything to be excited about. N4L has always struck a nerve with some people because of his delivery. For the most part though, his analysis is pretty damn close. Your point about him not seeming like a fan because he is so critical can actually be used to prove the opposite point. If he didn't care about the team so much, would he spend this much time writing anything (good or bad) about them? I generally agree with his views (Spezza excluded, I still would like to think he could blossom), but sometimes the delivery comes off way too strong. Personally, I try to look past it because usually the message is spot on.

Nah man, you are totally wrong he is the definition of a bandwagon fan! He basically states on page 12 that if Spezza continues his play that he will be driven away from SBP.

Why would I want to support a team finacially, that pays a player way more than he is worth just to watch losing, boring hockey?

So your saying if I dont dish out the cash for a product I do not enjoy, Im a band wagon jumper? Tell you what, you pay 4G's a year for heartless, gutless performances every night.

I can watch sh itty hockey from my house or a bar.

If I dont like the direction the team goes, you're damn right I wont be giving Melnyk my hard earned money.

What Hemlock said on the topic is precisely correct. I will add this:
A bandwagon fan would not have had anything to say about the 3rd period of last nights game because they would've changed the channel in the 1st... Truly, a bandwagon fan wouldn't watch any of these games because they would have switched teams by Oct 15th...

It takes a serious commitment to a team to be a season ticket holder...

I fully understand the way N4L feels and Imo he put it best: It is awful watching a team you love full of players you hate.

He did not say "from the Senators".
It is far different to watch the game from home or from a bar, and give the money to a restauranteur who earns it, than to players who, in his estimation, don't.
Personally, I have already stopped going to games this year, because I couldn't stand the thought of my hard-earned money supporting lazy-a$$ floaters. But I'll still watch the occasional game at home. That's just my opinion, though.

We can all agree to have different opinions, and listen/discuss intelligently, or we can allow it to degenerate into a personal battle. I'd respectfully point out that it's important to recognize that message is more important than the exact wording, and that the war that seems to be brewing is somewhat off topic.

I have learned a lot from the interaction on these boards, and have always appreciated the fact that, for the most part, posters aren't shot down for expressing their opinion. Isn't that why most of us left other hockey forums?

You are right personal attacks are not useful!

You do realize that the players will get paid regardless of whether you show up at the SBP or watch it at a bar but I get your point.

Everyone's really frustrated, but it's time to unwind a little guys. We don't need to be constantly berating each other.

Some people will leave the season ticket plan, I won't personally, but it's because of Melnyk more than anything. I know given time Murray can turn this around - and I think we have guys coming up that will be worth paying for. I also can't wait to get a more mobile D.

I couldn't cancel my tickets because we've taken a downturn. I respect the decision that people make who do though and leave it at that.

Hejda had some interesting comments regarding Spezza after the game...

http://www.ottawasun.com/Sports/Senators/2009/02/01/8222961-sun.html

"They didn't play like that on TV. Not the (film) we watched," Hejda, who partners with Mike Commmodore on the Blue Jackets "shutdown" pairing, told the Columbus Dispatch following the game. "Especially (Spezza). He dumped the puck in three or four times. He seemed like he didn't really want to play, like their season was maybe done.

"They're a one-line team. I didn't hear too much about any of the other guys on their team. We felt like if we could stop that one line, we could stop the whole team, and it worked."

Was it that bad?

Yes, but today was worse. The Caps Game Day thread has the gory details.

While I agree with him, who the **** is Hejda?

Shut up and play hockey. You're hardly Alex Semin. Wink

Hejda's sudden loquaciousness was probably encouraged by his partner Mr Commodore... :pirat:

Meh, its not the 1st NHLer to come out and say wtf is wrong with the Sens. Not the first guy to call Spezza into question...

Its not surprising. I dont know why people get so bent out of shape when other players make comments on the Sens that are negative. Its true.

This time Hedja is right. Spezza is phoning it in, Heatley is phoning it in, Alfie has lost several steps...but don't worry! We have big bad...Mike Fisher and Antoine Vermette coming to get you! Or...Nick Foligno or...look out, it's Chris Kelly (who I'd like to mow down with my car). Winchester? Ruutu? Surely one of these guys is an offensive dynamo, right?

Our secondary scoring is actually laughable. No wonder no one takes us seriously.

Not to mention our D is full of Dung. The more I watch Kuba, the more I can't wait for him to be gone. Same with Phillips, Picard (you suck very badly) and unfortunately Jason Smith.

I'll keep Brian Lee, but I'd unload him in a heartbeat for a player of impact.

Am I missing anyone? Brendan Diddle Bell? Worst defence in the NHL - and really, it's not close at all.
