Remember, it was Murray himself who said that there would be only a 'handful' of deals made where both teams didn't take on similar salaries.
But then, that would be a major waste of a resource for Calgary.
Interesting.
Agreed, I think it would be Aucoin. The upside is that once the Sens are out of the playoffs they could send Lee down for the playoff run to gain further experience and development.
Well Sutter was thinking about moving Aucoin earlier in the season, I just dont know if that still is the case. Another candiate could be Andreas Erickson. Primeau might be a good option if Murray was looking to move Kelly or Vermette. Aucoin makes sense as the salaries are similar with Ottawa taking on a little more. WHere Erickson or Primeau make less than Gerber so its not a balance there for Calgary. As well, the Fan 960 in Calgary are not to sure what to make of the rumor from what I heard on the radio today. Hemmy have you heard anything more. I guess will find out more tomorrow.
I don't listen to the Fan 960. I have XM radio, so I tend to listen to their programming instead.
I don't want any part of Aucoin. With the decline in his game, he is massively overpaid. I think Kelly, and especially Vermette, have way more value than that. If Sutter could make this deal, he does in a heartbeat. He gets younger, better and cheaper. We don't improve our defense at all, and lose offence.
Aside from the obvious couple of players, the only guys I really like out of Calgary are Moss and Boyd. Boyd isn't getting much ice time.
There were rumours discussed on HB a while ago, involving Lombardi coming to Ottawa. Laughable. He's a poor man's Vermette. He's fast as hell, but has zero, and I mean ZERO hands. He's not as effective on the draw or the PK as Vermette either.
