Funny thing about OEL and not sure if anyone has even mentioned this but the only teams he agreed to go to before the draft were Vancouver and Boston. Both teams didn’t have a 1st, which Arizona desperately wanted. Power move by OEL there.

Neither team has the cap space to add him or the need. He also gave them until tomorrow at 12 or he won't waive. HUGE power move.

So you're icing the same team that got us to 30th overall minus Pageau, Anderson, De Melo, Duclair, Ryan, Hainsey, Boro but with 4-5 rookies (Batherson, Norris, Stutzle, Brannstron, L.Brown) and maybe formenton, chlapik, Abramov?

In this fictional scenario, yes. It was just to see how it won't be a problem to get to the floor.

I don't think it's a terrible strategy to think the best AHL could team could replicate similar success in the NHL, but no I don't think they'd be winning next year.

If there's no AHL season, I think it makes sense to keep your prospects in the NHL

Honestly, Murray is an upgrade over last year's Anderson; Ryan wasn't in the lineup much last year to effect the outcome one way it another; DeMeloHainsey and Boro are more than adequately replaced by Zaitsev, Wolanin, Zub, Brown (let's face it, we're not trying to replace Chara in his prime); that leaves Pageau and Duclair - one of the best 3rd line centers and a fast, extremely streaky winger. Can Stützle score 23 in his rookie year to replace Duclair's offensive contribution? Maybe. Time for White to step up and replace Pageau; finding a replacement for what White did last year should not be a difficult exercise. Add to all this internal growth (Tkachuck, Batherson, Chlapik , Balcers - hell, even Tierney is still on a growth curve and could improve).

There's also Brannstrom, Formenton, Norris,  and an outside chance of Sanderson.

In short, the team *should* show significant (with a chance of *massive*) improvement in on-ice play.

Did we get Fleury too? Sarcasm

lol - it's doable i suppose but we have zero veterans on a raw, unproven team.

Ugh - I wish we would have walked out of the draft with Rossi or Holtz over Sanderson. Has me super jaded.

With the brain fart fixed, any comments on the actual point of the post which was: this season's team should be significantly better.

I will reserve judgment until I see the final roster at camp and what the schedule looks like

i'm at a loss, how we hit that cap realistically. it better not be LTIR.

Either that or trading for a bunch of plugs on one-year deals.

Gudbransson - RHD, 1 yr $4M AAV, $3M salary
Ryan Kesler - LTIR, 2 yr $6.875M AAV
Derek Stepan - C, 1 yr, $6.8M AAV, $5M salary (though Arizona has their own cap floor to hit)
Hossa - LTIR, 1 yr, $5.275M AAV, $1M salary (same comment as above)

- Adam Larsson in Edmonton has one year left and is likely out until March
- Boychuk and Eriksson need new homes, etc
- Maybe Philly wants to move on from Giroux after his brutal playoff

Called it. #1 on my list . Guy is garbage . Equal to josh brown. We continue to stockpile dung

It’s a one year move like hainsey last year. Sens aren’t winning anything next year

How does Matt Murray feel right now? Him and Jarry threw a massive bender when GudB got traded to Anaheim last year and now he’s back patrolling the ice in front of him. I can feel Murray’s tears from here.

wait. you're not under the illusion that we aren't likely to wind up bottom 5 team next year right?
we are still rebuilding. especially after a few of the picks we made this year. hopefully we're able to sign someone this off season that maybe gets us a 2nd rounder at the deadline.

But we'll be lucky to be out of the bottom 10 the following year also.

this isn't the end of this gong show.
