I feel bad for Pageau that he'll be stuck on a mediocre Isles team for the next 6 years, but happy that he cashed in.

Anyway, I was happy with what the Sens did overall, mainly because we got that 1st for Pageau.

It'll be great to stockpile some good young prospects this year and likely next year as well, and then in 2022 and beyond, we should be in a good position to trade picks/prospects to help bring in established NHLers to round out the roster and get us to "unparalleled success".

It's a deep draft but the top 10 is special so I would try anything to get another top 10 pick.

Mike Johnson is wrong.

when the draft happens, those picks are at a premium. you see some very good young NHLers with term go for a 2nd and 3rd/4rth.
if you can get your hands on some young guys that can play i don't have a problem with that. it's sometimes harder to make sure those 2nds and lower develop into good NHLers.
it is great to have 3 picks in the first 15 picks I agree, but as far as what happens after that I'm good with losing a few picks to some players further advanced in their development. just no Rundblad please.

The trade for Athanasiou was so astute. A 2nd this year - which will be at worst a 45 overall and a 2nd next year where you have a full year with him and the pick should be even lower. He and McDavid are so fast that it's insane.

That's the kind of move Ottawa should be doing.

If we’re ever trading our good picks, I want a better player than that

A 2nd this year and next? In the mid to late 40 range this year? Who are you gonna get better than an RFA one year removed from 30 goals who struggled this year on a historically bad team?

Agreed. And one that is basically a perfect match for the best player in the worlds wing?

That line was insanely fast last night. Just wait until they have a chance to see if they have chemistry to go along with their wheels.

it's a good pickup for Edmonton. I just don't like AA that much. I'd rather get a Miller type.

There was none available. Coleman was already acquired and unless you wanted a broken down Simmonds, I’m not sure what else was available. Carolina and Edmonton dominated the deadline in my early poll.

No I mean for Ottawa specifically next year.

Boedker draws back in. I completely forgot about him.
I think most of us thought he was a terrible piece to acquire and two years later he's likely playing his last NHL games.

I'd have given up Duclair for two seconds . Keep in mind Ottawa has a cap floor to hit next year so we're likely to trade for players with our picks/prospects or overpay some ufas

I actually hope we trade for good young players before the draft.
I imagine they will resign Duclair also but I’m definitely not against them trading him also at the draft. If only he could finish the season like he started it.
