So for figure skating they now have a team medal? Isn't it about time, then, to include the best forward/defenseman/goalie (hockey) as individual medals to go along with the team? And why doesn't a team gold count for 23?

The figure skating team event really makes no sense, other than to reward the countries that have the "deepest" or most well-rounded talent pool. It's the same theory behind the team gymnastics event in the Summer Olympics.
