Man, Minny has cashed in... will be interesting to see how it plays out in the long run... and let's not forget about DiPietro... the original one...

I think Minny is a lock for the playoffs now, they are pretty strong everywhere. Contender for sure. Favorite? No way. That LA team still has what Minny does but is younger, tougher, faster, and just better.

Those are 2 contracts at the going rate for star players in the NHL in 2012.

Indeed. But what about the NHL in 2025 when they're both 40 and getting paid 7.5?

At the going rate, the cap might be $200M by then? Shrug

When Nashville was a force already and then signed Forsberg, everyone thought they had just bought themselves the Cup. I was skeptical. As I still am now. Two very good players, but as has been said already, Suter was never the "top dog"; he is not going to have Weber with him in Minny; and as for Parise, I'm still scratching my head as to what happened to him in the playoffs.

Not saying anyone will be a bust, I'm just thinking that the hype is going to be way higher than they actually reach.

For a second, I read that as "...in NHL 2012".

Agreed.. LA is still the team to beat.. but Minny probably wins the NW over Vancouver.. IF Mika Koivu can stay healthy.. as well as their goaltending.

Minny is in no way better than Vancouver (on paper obviously, we have no idea about on-ice).

Am I reading that right? $35 mil in the first 3 years of his contract?

Yeah, time for another lockout. Parise is a great player, but that is beyond ridiculous.

I thought there was some sort of rule where the salary from one year to the next couldn't be less than half the salary from the previous year?
