After signing an entry-level deal, looksl ike Luke will be sticking around, at least for up to 9 games. Guess it depends on performance and injuries.

May not be the best time to bring him in, since the team is likely going to tank, which they should. Is that bad for his confidence? At the same time expectations are low, so there's not a whole lote of pressure on him.

That is the only reason I would send him back down... This year he has the chance of being one of the premier guys on Team Canada for the World Juniors.. He could learn so much from that, as they are in Canada, they will be playing to sold-out jam packed arenas... Lots of Pressure, and pressure he should be able to handle and gain valuable experience to be used for when he goes back to the leafs...

That's a good reason to send him down before using up one year of his deal/eligibility/whatever the rule is.

No real reason to waste a year off his contract on a team that's main goal is to finish last.

With JJ out, LA may be in the race for Hedman...with Toskola, Toronto may not have a shot anyhow
LA could be scary in a couple of years

What's the rule there? If they send him down before he plays the requisite number of games in the NHL, then they don't use one of the years of his entry level contract?

9 games is the benchmark. Once he has played more than 9 NHL games it activates the first year on his NHL contract.

I guess that means Colaiacovo will never get to free agency. 8)
