Upper Deck did their rookie card photo shoot for the upcoming season and there were quite a few players on hand... including Jared Cowen for the Sens... he was wearing #2 from what I could tell.

My friend works for the NHLPA and was actually at this event. He sat at Cowen's dinner table and had to interview a bunch of them- apparently he's at 225 now... after dinner, they had to leave so Jared could have another dinner. (Not kidding).

atta boy Cowen, beef up all you can, you have a career of smashing Leafs against the glass to look forward to. :^^^^:

I'm not going to complain about the Leafs getting in with two rookies and Ottawa only having one, but the choices are rather weird, don't you think?

Jared Cowen is the only Sen to make the cut. He's recovering from surgery which has limited him from full on-ice drills all Summer. In fact I'm not sure if he's been cleared for them yet. He's definitely not going to be in the starting lineup. I'm not even sure if he'll be in camp in a couple of weeks. Karlsson, on the other hand, already got recognition as the best defenseman at the recent World Juniors, and is expected by the GM to make it into the lineup. Odd.
