Thanks HH22000. There you have it, not too bad of a Division. Tough Goaltending though, but not the toughest of the tough *physically* in the West. He should do just fine.

Again though, do they have any reason to play Duchene right away? I think he's going to be the cat's meow, but the Avs aren't going anywhere. They might as well let him have another year in junior, then unite Hall and him next season.

with Sakic out of the picture due to retirement, Smyth has gone to LA, and yes they have Statsny, but other than that, who do they hype the organization around? Budaj?

That's actually a pretty good point.

Hedman. He has been playing in men's league for 2 years & will get lots of ice in TB.

I think it will be a race between Tavares and Duchene... Hedman would have to have one HELL of a year to take it.

What rookie goalies will be playing next season and eligible...?

Im thinking Hedman or Duchene, unless some goalie comes outa nowhere and Masons the league.

Tavares has nothing to work with on Long Island, he's going to face trial by fire and deal with the top checkers of every team he plays all season long. Hedman is inulated by a decent TB blueline, and has the forwards to produce on the breakouts he can provide.

Duchene is a bit more insulated as well, and can get consideration for the trophy based on more than scoring.

Who knows tho, the Calder is always a crapshoot until the season hits January.

I agree with PKC. Barring a significant injury, Tavares will play all season and get PP time, most likely on the first unit. That has to make you a favorite, even if you're drawing the opposing 1st line checkers.

I would take some previous drafted players before Hedman and Tavares.
Hodgson, Filatov, Giroux (not sure if he still is a rookie though), Myers, Brassard...

May be throw in some goalies too, Varlmamov for instance.
