if I win the lottery tomorrow night, then I will think about it, for 2 seconds, then I will hop on a flight to BC, find Heatley, kick his Donkey and force him to either man up/apologize, or to accept the deal Murray has orchestrated, who's coming, it will be a first class flight.

It's only a matter of time before Barrie is shoved aside. Here's a token buyout. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

They need to get some stability there soon and fast.

I think that having one owner (you know the one who actually has money), will stabilize things somewhat. I heard an interview with the Oilers president from earlier this season today and he talked about the difference having a single owner (Katz) as opposed to a consortium. He said that things got done in a much simpler fashion, otherwise big decisions had to be made by the board of directors.

I pray the next 6 Saw movies tank and Koules is forced to sell off pieces from the Lightning. I'll take Stamkos and Hedman.

I guess it all depends on how much freedom the GM has. It can work in some situations, but clearly, one owner is ideal.

Isn't Toronto a good example of how a consortium/board can handcuff a GM?

I'm not sure if it was the board that was the issue there... I think JFJ just sucked Donkey as a GM. We'll see if Burke runs into the same issues though.

As for that $10 million? Chump change. Question is,
who in all of this is the real chump? Barrie, who can’t find his own
pocket? Koules, for getting involved with a partner whose modus
operandi is to call all the shots and do stuff his way — no questions
allowed?

Or, perhaps it all comes back to
Bettman for approving this partnership in the first place because, as
they used to say on the shinny ponds in China: A fish rots from the
head down.

I blame Bettman.

"Money" is such a loose term in the Bettman NHL. I was predicting Barrie to show Bettman someone else's money, which works. I should have guessed that the old "letter of credit" was a possibility as well...

Barrie: "Hey, Gary... here's a letter showing that someone was stupid enough to give me a $10M line of credit."

Bettman: "Looks good to me."

Barrie just sold a half billion worth of real-estate. The guy is loaded. He's the rare ex-hockey player who actually *made* money on his investments.
