Problem is - the shortsightedness of the story doesn't even mention the Big 3 that Murray's responsible for on D (Karlsson, Cowen, Wiercioch) who are coming up the ranks in 2-3 years.

Nor does it mention the need for guys like Kovalev because Muckler left a gaping hole of prospects that we now have to build from the ground up.

Criticizing Spezza's defensive game is so last year.

Even when writers try to get it right in Ottawa, they get it...half right to be polite.

What does an unsigned article mean?

It's unsigned; an anonymous author; just somebody from the citizen.

Too bad we got a link for it. I didn't click it, but I would assume most people did. And whoever that hack is is getting page-hits.

I'll be honest, I'm not that impressed with this article. We discuss the Sens in depth at GMHockey.com - and what you didn't write in this article is how Bryan Murray has quickly and quietly completely changed the dynamic of the blue line. Karlsson, Cowen, Wiercioch immediately makes the future look unbelievably bright for Sens fans. Not to mention that Spezza is becoming more and more responsible on both sides of the puck. Alfie still has years left, Fisher should benefit by the addition of Kovalev for the short team (yes in hockey, 2 years is a short contract, minimal risk).

For the right now, Murray has assembled a team whos top 6 is as lethal as anyone's (assuming Heatley can't be dealt) and created a new atmosphere with the addition of Leclaire. Our blue line isn't fantastic, but Kuba is a highly underrated player IMO. We'll see if maybe they can do a good job.

Have a LITTLE optimism. I'm not saying plan the parade (for 2 or 3 years), but look at the entire picture, not just the part of the canvas that's already painted.

Here's a pretty decent read recapping things: http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Heatley-saga-stunned-teammates-Edmonton-still-a?urn=nhl,176449
