New Ottawa Senator Alexei Kovalev figures to play his first game against his old Montreal Canadiens teammates on either Fri. Sept. 18 at the Bell Centre or Sat. Sept. 19 at Scotiabank Place.

The back-to-back games against the Canadiens are part of the six-game exhibition schedule the Senators announced Thursday.

The Senators will open the pre-season against the Florida Panthers in Halifax on Tues., Sept. 15, followed by another game between the teams Wed. Sept. 16 at Scotiabank Place.

Following the games versus the Canadiens, the Senators will conclude their pre-season with games against the Tampa Bay Lightning Mon., Sept. 21 in Regina and Fri., Sept. 25 at home against the Boston Bruins.

2009-10 Ottawa Senators pre-season schedule (all times Eastern)

Tuesday, Sept. 15 – Ottawa vs. Florida, 6 p.m. in Halifax
Wednesday, Sept. 16 – Ottawa vs. Florida at Scotiabank Place, 7 p.m.
Friday, Sept. 18 – Ottawa at Montreal at the Bell Centre, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 19 – Ottawa vs. Montreal at Scotiabank Place, 7 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 21 – Ottawa vs. Tampa Bay, 9 p.m. in Regina
Friday, Sept. 25 – Ottawa vs. Boston at Scotiabank Place, 7 p.m.

No need for Kovy to play that pre-season game in Montreal if he doesn't want to.

There'll be enough emotion throughout the year with him and Montreal.

If you get NHL CI, you might get to see a few of them. I remember seeing a few 2 years ago. They're not often filmed, tho'.

Weren't a couple of them on Rogers 22 last year?

I think Rogers 22 had all the Home pre-season games last year.

rather him save it up for the Habs in the regular season rather than a meaningless pre-season game, at least we know AK27 will be on fire for 6 games of the year.
