As Bill Guerin waits somewhat impatiently for his future to be unveiled, the New York Islanders told reporters a timeline for an update on the situation remains unclear.
After participating in the pre-game skate on Saturday, Guerin was taken off the ice in anticipation of a trade.
According to several reports, the Islanders had a deal in place for Guerin, who has a no-trade clause, but the veteran was taking his time before making a decision.
It's believed Guerin has accepted a move to this team, but so far the deal has not yet been consummated.
Speaking on his way back from Dallas, TFP Editor-in-Chief David Pagnotta spoke to a source close to Guerin, who confirmed his frustration with the situation.
"Billy was hoping to get something straightened out by now," Pagnotta said. "Right now, he's basically sitting back and playing the waiting game."
New York Newsday is reporting that the Boston Bruins and New Jersey Devils are not in the mix, while the Washington Post denied reports linking the Capitals to Guerin.
It has been widely reported that the Montreal Canadiens are interested in Guerin and remain a contender for his services.
Newsday also lists the Carolina Hurricanes and Buffalo Sabres as possible candidates, given their extra cap space.

This is really weird the way the Guerin situation has been handled. This guy is a consumate professional. Don't leave him in limbo.

Trade him / keep him, pick one

I'm pretty sure they will be trading him, just that the deal(s) keep falling though it would appear. He'll be gone by tomorrow night for sure.
