More cuts today including JBD Greig Thomson and Sokolov. Thomson has really impressed IMO. He’ll be an nhler for sure, plays a North American style with offense and defense

Yeah, I think all those guys you mention will be NHLers.

So a huge hypothetical here. Or a "What If" type of situation.

Formenton-Norris-Batherson continue their excellent play tonight and it becomes evident that these three players should at least start the year together. Do we see a top-six situation where:

a) Pinto is your 2C with Tkachuk and Stutzle on the wings; or
b) They try Stutzle at C flanked by Tkachuk and White/C.Brown

Formenton-Norris-Batherson
Tkachuk-Stutzle-C.Brown
Sanford-Pinto-Paul
Watson-Tierney-White

That's a pretty nasty top-nine and a pretty effective 4th line.

i don’t think Stutzle starts at C. If they’d experiment with him at C, I don’t know that it would be centering the second line right away.

Option A: I'd move Stutzle to right wing on the second line;

Formenton-Norris-Batherson
Tkachuk-Pinto-Stutzle
Sanford-Paul-C. Brown
Watson-Tierney-White

Apparently DJ has no appetite for White on the wing. I’m disappointed that he seems to have no appetite for trying many things. Seems a little too set in his ways. White played wing in the WJ and did well. Would you rather have a scoring winger or a defensive C which we have enough of.

Hopefully they leave Pinto on the second line by the start of the season but even that looks like he wouldn’t want. If Tierney starts on the 2nd line then there’s a problem

I wouldn’t move White to wing either unless he has another bad year. He’s a centre through and through.

Can’t see stutzle ever becoming C in the next two seasons

I’d play Formenton with Tierney to start

White going for mri after colliding with a leafs player. Doesn’t look good

Well I guess that makes it obvious that Pinto starts in the NHL

He was the best player on the ice for both teams. I liked Batherson's game a lot too. Chabot-Zub pairing was a treat to watch and Murray looked good too. Lots of good things coming out of the game.

Overall though, ugly game for a team that essentially dressed their opening night roster. The Sens need Tkachuk. He's the heartbeat of this team and his will probably would have led to a win last night.

You know what else would have led to a win? Hitting the net on a regular basis. Chabot not having a brain fart with a little over a minute left in the game. Stutzle getting the monkey off his back -- maybe get a new monkey, with a higher shooting percentage. There's no way a guy with his skill getting that many shots should be sitting on one deflected goals in 3 pre-season games.

Nobody cares about pre-season.

Chabot and Stutzle aren't giving up that winning goal in the regular season.

Let's hope not. Because losing to the Marlies is not ideal.

Some of this talk of them for sure starting the year without him is dumb. He can sign this weekend and they’d play him in Game 1. His type of game isn’t complicated. He’ll be ready

Yeah they just need to sign him. Give him a six-year deal or something and move on. This organization continues to be a joke. Their inability to sign players should speak volumes for why there are no fans attending games. They really need to get him signed and squeak out an organizational win here.

That's unfair. They've had no issues signing other young players. If he wanted a six year deal, it would be done by now. not sure how the organization can be faulted in these negotiations. Worst case they will have to cave for a bridge deal, but they're not a joke if the Tkachuk camp is holding out for a bridge only.
