2020 NHL playoffs

Im not pro Sanderson but he can develop some chemistry with JBD at UND. I'm also not sold on Wolanin being a top four dman. There is also the option of Brann sliding to the right side short term.

They can move Sanderson up and have Brann play on his off-wing. Defeats the JBD chemistry argument. Otherwise it means Brann becomes a third pairing d-man and Dorion would get crucified for trading Stone for that.

Again - I am not pro Sanderson or Drysdale for that matter. I'd personally take Drysdale over Sanderson, and would take a forward ahead of both of them. Just can't see Dorion not doing something dumb to piss off the fan base.

If we can add say Ehlers and Dvorak, I'd be okay with Drysdale at 5. It all depends on what they see Norris' ceiling as and whether they have faith Brown is a long-term fixture.

Sanderson or Drysdale would be fantastic adds. Position doesn't matter at all. I have no clue which direction the Sens will take here.

I completely disagree. They need everything. They're a last place team. It's absolutely not idiotic to take 1 F and 1D in the Top 5. None of the forwards at five are sure things to be top line players. They have first line upside, as do Drysdale and Sanderson. None of our D prospects are as good as those two. We know they are considered top picks by a lot of NHL teams. You are very much underrating the upside of Sanderson who many believe will be a top pairing two way defenseman like Heiskanen.

They should take whoever they think will be the best player. If they pick a D, they think they have something special there. I trust the Sens scouts to take a great player here. After the stupid Zadina/Tkachuk thing, people should lay off judgment of any pick

And I will stress again - you don't look at what is available next year when drafting this year. Rankings and team needs will change so much between now and then.

Just to echo Ev here, out of F, D, and G, we're weakest at D AND Ottawa's drafting has earned some degree of respect as well. I wouldn't be shocked to see a D-man go #5.

I also think goaltending is the least of our problems. It's a goaltender market right now and one of Hogberg, Gustavsson, Daccord, Mandolese will turn into at least a 1b and then we still have sogaard.

I don't think Gustavsson, Daccord, or Hogberg should be counted out. They put up good numbers on crap defensive teams, but these teams have been crap without Wolanin (injured), Brannstrom (up and down), Thomson (Europe), JBD (college), Tyhconik (college).

I don't think we're as bad defensively as the Sens and B-Sens appeared last year.

Agreed. Leave it to Dorion to use a 5th overall on a star D instead of one of the many superstar forwards for 2020 and then use his 2021 lottery pick on a star forward and pass on one of the many superstar D.

Disagree and every GM that adds draft picks to trades think long and hard about what year and round to add to the trade based upon the draft class.

Also, how much is going to change with our team in a year? Not much. It is what it is. We can’t add any franchise changing free agents or even any decent ones. What you see is what it will be next year, add one year development.

Agreed. Leave it to Dorion to use a 5th overall on a star D instead of one of the many superstar forwards for 2020 and then use his 2021 lottery pick on a star forward and pass on one of the many superstar D.

Dorion and the scouting staff have earned the benefit of the doubt no matter who they pick. Most reasonable fans will be OK with a D selection if it happens

We need everything. That’s the point. I couldn’t care less that next years D look like in the draft if they love one in this draft. There will be great forwards available too if they got a high pick, but even then you can just pick another D next year too, and make trades. Position is absolutely irrelevant

One week away. I’m confident they will take Raymond and Rossi/Askarov.
