What about the log jam? Harpur proved he can play in the NHL also.

Karlsson, Phaneuf, Ceci, Claesson, Wideman, Boro, Chabot, Harpur

8 NHL capable defencemen is probably the right number, given the fact that you want some job competition and also injuries are frequent. This also provides the necessary depth to send Chabot to the AHL if required.

What has Harpur proven, exactly? Keep in mind, I've been a huge fan since I saw him at a DC 2-3 years ago. He had a couple good games, then he had a rough one. He's still a work in progress.

If you don't think Chabot is ahead of guys like Harpur on the depth chart I don't know what to say.

He was pretty much thrown into the end of the season and then the playoffs. It's not like bingo saw much playoff action. This is just a fine learning curve. Starting the season in Ottawa would be just fine.

Like you said. It's decent. It be a hell of a lot better with white and chabot on it.

My thoughts exactly. I think White and Chabot will start the season down there and will be called up after a month or so. It would have a big impact on the other players down there too.

I see Paul or McCormick starting the season with the Sens

Really don't see any scenario where Chabot does not start in the NHL. I would put the odds at 99%.

Who do you scratch? Phaneuf, Boro, or Claesson?

Unless Chabot is playing 15-20 mins a night there is no point rushing him in. Worst thing they can do is kill his confidence at the NHL level. It's a huge jump from the Q to the NHL. I don't see the harm in letting him take a baby step.

Yeah, people need to pay more attention. Dorion's been raving about how the guy is NHL ready every chance he gets, so do we really think he's going to swallow his pride and put him in Belleville to start the season?

Boro would be the scratch on opening night.

He started last year in the NHL at 19. No reason not to start him at 20 after a huge year, and he can be sheltered.

Agreed. As I mentioned I am okay with him starting in the NHL but think it would be wiser to let him develop in the AHL for a month or so.

If he's ready for the NHL, we could use him after losing Methot. If he's *not* ready, the quickest way to convince him of that is to let him convince himself by playing. Just don't give him as long a leash as Lazar got.
