As I said, we're pretty much where we were last year at this time.

Yeah, it feels a lot different for sure.  Boucher had a system that's working,  let's hope they keep it up.

Reminds of when I said MacArthur would only be back in January at the earliest only to be immediately contradicted by someone... Can't remember who...

Agreed. Feels very different. That's why I checked to see exactly how different. Three points and one game in hand -- maybe it's more significant than we think?

Last year 96 points got you in. An extra 5 points (assuming we win the game in hand) would have gotten them 90 and a 3 spot lower pick. Don't forget that last year we were 1 point out of 2nd with a game in hand, when Turris got injured.

And yet somehow it feels different this year.

I can't remember that either. Although I could possibly have made the argument that he wouldn't be back at all. I still think he's risking a lot at this point. We will see I guess but one big hit and I think he could be gone. He's really playing with his health but you got to admire his love of the game. He really wants to play.

Prags because it isn't in the stats, it's how the team plays. We are seeing a much more focused team in following the system. Shots on goals have been reduced, we play a tighter defensive system, the PK is a lot better, the PP is coming along. How the team is playing makes sense as opposed to chaotic wins we saw under Cameron.
I think that's likely why we like what we see. I'm very curious on how the system will translate into playoff hockey when other teams intensity is cranked up. Will we frustrate them even more or will we start to see cracks in the system? Very interested to see this in action.

Flo, SSF was aiming that at me. After he posted that Mac was planning to come back I posted a link where he said he was aiming for Jan 8.  No intent at all to contradict anyone, as I certainly don't recall him starting Mac *won't* be back in Jan.  But it amuses him to crap on me.

As for you calling me out about stats, that one is getting old, too.  I watch the games, I see how they play. I notice the changes.  It was just odd hearing Tim say they are in the same place as last year. So I went back to check.

Cameron became a bad coach when his #1 center had his leg replaced with a piece of rubber.  Until then the team we doing well so his lack of preparedness was not being exposed.  The personnel decisions that didn't make sense started resulting in losses.

Guess what, we are still seeing some personnel decisions that make little sense. Ceci playing more than Karlsson in five of the last eleven games. Starting the OT period. If they were losing we'd be blaming the losses on those decisions.  But this is the only such issue I can think of.

There are other issues, to be sure. They are taking way too many penalties.  They hardly ever score first. They are still getting outshoot by most teams.

I think they are better coached but it's more because Cameron was simply overwhelmed and not because Boucher is a miracle worker.  And I'm not sure how much of the improved defensive play is on Crawford.

Not crapping. You just like to contradict people, which is fine. What you responded what that MacArthur would be back *this year* and that he was cleared for contact, which was false, immediately after I posted the more accurate timeline of January. It's what you do...

So it *is* your intent to contradict, and you do it frequently.

I don't know, out feels like things are different than last year, yet there isn't that much of a difference in the record. So I wanted to dig a little deeper to find out why it felt different. Not to contradict. Saying we had 20 wins versus 17 doesn't contradict the "same place" statement. It only points out a subtle difference of *how* we got to the same place as last year. We weren't exactly 4 points up on the third place team, we were actually one point back of the second place team, or at least we were on the 19th. Again, not contradicting the broad "same place" statement, but pointing out slight differences that may account for why it feels so different from last year.

Ah, what's the use. Merry Christmas.

I sometimes say this year and mean this season. Somewhat interchangeable. When I posted the link that quotes him saying Jan 8, well, that's pretty obvious that I meant this season and not calendar year.

Happy World Junior Championship Day.  A day when we can start to expect too much from a bunch of tenagers.

By the way, both Ahl and Dahlen made Team Sweden's roster, so we are back to five.

I can't wait to read what PTFlea has to say about our prospects.
