Hosea was great but didn't play long enough, fisher I'm not sure. There's an argument to be made for Spezza I guess. Jaque Martin is a good candidate. It's not like we have to fill the ring in the next 5 years and it's better to wind up in 30 years with 2 dozen people than to fill it up fast. Takes a bit of the prestige away from it if you do.Hoff-Machine wrote:This is a great idea. I don't think players like Alfie who will have their number retired should be in that ring of honor. But this opens up a platform to honor off-ice personnel like Bryan Murray and ex-players who spent a long time with the senators like redden, fisher, spezza, lalime, hossa.
Hope to see Jacques Martin on there. Phillips and Neil, imo, should have their numbers retired. Anyone who can stick around for a 1000 games (>12 seasons) with the sens is good enough to have their number retired forever.
If anything the sens should invest in a little museum honouring the history and then you could have mementos of past great players in there like hossa, redden, lalime, Rhodes... that would be much cooler. But I doubt they make it happen until the new arena gets built.

I'd be less insulted if they ignored it altogether.
wprager wrote:They didn't acknowledge that he did out. They said he tried. Once again intent is disregarded. Keep in mind though that if Couture missed the next game the 2 games would have been higher. They mentioned no injury and no priors in the video. They also clearly felt the hook caused his hands to go up, so there was no intent for a head sit.
In other words they pretty much showed that five and a game was more than enough.

So, you still think I was just being a contrarian? Chicago looked tired. When the Tootoo line looks faster than your top line something is off.
Lat night Anaheim was torched (roasted duck?) by the Habs (Galchenyuk, Desharnais, Shaw, Markov all out). The Ducks had double the PIMs (and Habs scored two on the PP) so the refs helped. but Anaheim just could not keep up with their speed. A tired team.
The Sens may not have quite match the Habs team speed, but with Galchenyuk and Desharnais out they are not that far apart. Last night the Sens were faster than the Hawks. Not all the time, but enough. Honestly, that 4-3 score was somewhat misleading and flattering to Chicago. They were outplayed.
Will they have enough to get past the Ducks? The Ducks will be just as tired from chasing the Habs and they are probably can't wait to get back home to Sunny California. Normally the home team around the Christmas break is at a slight disadvantage with home distractions, but I think in this case the Ducks won't be thinking much of hockey, either.
At least that's my hope.
