Yeah, I said he's a "bit of a douche".  He's not a full-blown douche.  He blocked me on Twitter, and the worst I ever did to him was point out how his tweets weren't fully comprehensible.  He also comes across as condescending in some situations....

i wish that was just a simpson problem but it seems that most "analysts" will block you for confronting their opinion on anything. cox blocked me for correcting some of the information he was putting out there because he had the wrong facts, boo boo blocked me because i made a buffet joke when he posted something about food(dude, cmon, wide open for that). so yeah i guess you have to bow down to them.

but like i said, simpson isn't cox but he is full of himself and he will go beyond what is reasonable in knocking on players to create controversy. he's a step above brennan.

little tidbit i forgot to mention. i met a scout for rouyn noranda last Sunday night and he had nothing but good things to say about Perron. apparently everyone in the organization believes he's a sure shot NHLer. apparently the attitude and willingness to improve himself is all there. but i guess these are all things we already kinda deducted.
he also had his cup ring on from winning the championship. i had no idea they gave those out to Juniors and all the way to the scouts. if wasn't like it was gold or with any diamonds but a silver cast ring none the less. interesting.

A couple Sens tidbits from Friedman's 30 thoughts:

"14. Teddy Purcell not being picked up on waivers seems purely a budget/cap decision. The Kings let it be known they were willing to trade him, as long as they did not take a contract back in return. That didn’t work.

There are so many teams tight to the cap, they didn’t have room. The Ottawa Senators have space and Purcell played for Guy Boucher in Tampa Bay, but that’s a budget issue.

It’s little consolation for him now, but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone takes a chance later in the year, when teams have more room.

15. The Senators are very much in it, but thin up front with injuries. Bobby Ryan is going to try to play hurt on the West Coast. If they could add another player, it would do them a world of good — but that’s Eugene Melnyk’s call.

Say what you want about Ryan, but he’s tried to play through a lot of injuries.

16. Ottawa’s Ryan Dzingel turns 25 in March. At the end of this season, he’ll have played three pro seasons. If the Senators don’t get him to 80 career NHL games, Dzingel was going to be a Group VI unrestricted free agent.

He’s got 24 to go. With 14 points in 26 games this season, safe to say he’ll get there."

I got blocked by Brennan for pointing out a lack of journalistic skills. He has, since, re-bestowed upon me the ability to read his gibberish.

I was also blocked - and still am - by Dean Brown. A man with surprisingly thin skin. Don't even remember what i said but it must have been heinous.

i'm still unsold on purcell but maybe if he costs us very little down the stretch like a 7th rounder it might be a gamble.
hard to say how effective ryan will be if he's injured. it's the hand so it might affect his ability to shoot and without that...
funny how Melnyk and the budget pops out again, and again and again.... not a factor. i'm sure it's weighing quite heavily on him that attendance is down but for crying out loud man! show us dedication by untightening those purse string and maybe you'll get more butts in seats!

Nice shot! Carolina should have left him even more open.

Well I hope he succeeds. I liked what the reports had to say about him. Sure it makes our trade look worse if he does but so be it. Anyways, the real losing trade we have to look to now is the Spezza trade. Even nick Paul doesn't look that great right now. I'd expect him to at least get a look at one point but he only has a goal so far.

I was happy to see him get his first. We gain nothing by wishing for him to fail and, in so doing, make the trade better. I'm more comfortable being happy for a guy that was drafted by the Sens than wishing for him to fail because that would somehow alter perception about a trade from years ago.

I'd be happy to take Purcell on for a 5th or so. He only costs $1.6.

We could've had Purcell for free. No way we're giving up a draft pick for him now. The Hammond/Purcell swap that came up on these very forums would've made sense earlier in the season when LA first started having goalie injuries.

The only way Purcell makes sense (after passing on him on waivers) is a salary exchange. But until we don't need Hammond that's not going to happen.

This is fair.

Yeah, it might make sense if they gave up a 7th later in the season when most of his salary has been eaten. But by then you would think better player will become available.
Is he dwelling in the A at this moment or is he back in LA?

He seems to be more successful against the Sens than anything else. He's been pretty disappointing this year. Take out the 6 goals he had against us last year, and he's sitting at 11 goals on the year. He's a bottom-six production kind of guy right now, but he needs top-6 minutes to produce. I think he's a tweener and I expect to see him continue to produce at a 20-30ish point pace for the rest of his NHL career.

No thanks.
