Honestly, not sure he'd be an upgrade over any of those (Kelly, yes, but we need Kelly for other reasons).

Meh.  Mac's coming back in 2 weeks as well.
You sure about that? And for how long? I'm not saying we pick him up but I'm saying we should address our needs at one point before we slide too far.

Fairly sure. How long is anyone's guess.

In a Dec. 19 article Garrioch said Mac would be meeting with doctors "later this week" to determine if he is cleared to play. Earlier he was given clearance for contact in practice. At that time they were still talking of him returning for the Jan. 7 have against the Caps.

I believe this date has been ruled out already? If so, that implies the doctors have not cleared him to return yet.

If he gets clearance this week then I think it will be another two weeks before he gets into a game. Which would put us right about Jan. 21, a Saturday home game against the Leafs.

Both the Bruins and Lightning have lost the two games they played during the Sens' bye week in regulation. Pretty remarkable in this day of 3-point games that they managed to keep second place in the Atlantic.

Now, the bad news, the Leafs are just 2 points back and there are no games in hand.

He said no to the 7th, can't recall where that was, but he or the sens said they aimed to have him by mid January for the final decision,  but it looked good.

Leafs in New Jersey tonight. Panthers host Nashville. Florida can't catch us. Toronto can match our point total with a win but will have player one more game.

So the Sens will remain second in the Division after missing a week of play. That is pretty unexpected.

What worries me is that instead of coming back refreshed they might come back out of step and go on a losing streak.
I'm hoping it's the refreshed part.
We need to put together a nice little winning streak so that we can distance ourselves once again.

Back-to-back games against the Caps and Oilers. They played the Caps well, but Washington just terminated Columbus' streak before the could tie the all-time record. Maybe this will be a trap game for them. As for the Oilers, we shut them out 2-0 earlier in the year but I doubt we will repeat that outcome. And after these games we have the defending Cup Champs followed by the suddenly hot Leafs who, by that time, could well be ahead of the Sens. And it doesn't get easier as we face the Blues, Columbus twice, the Leafs again and then the Caps. Tough part of the schedule.

I like your optimism! Sarcasm

We could very well play the upset on many of these. Would be great though if we could get Anderson back for a few games.

Dreger says that Ottawa's refusal to deal Ceci killed a Drouin deal. Nice work.

Possibly late January but more likely start of February.

There was a recent article that talked about Nicholle being about two thirds through her current course of treatment, and then another 12 week course coming up. Assuming her current one is the same duration, she would have had 16 weeks remaining plus whatever time they give in between.

Clearly what's happening now is that he will rejoin the team after her current course finished up. But it also means that there will be another one layer. He will be away from the team at some time later on in the season.

At the time Drouin was a former high pick that had not proven anything at the NHL level except that he thought he was better than the ice time he was given.

Ceci has shown more than Rundblad had at the time of the Turris trade.

Sens management tends to fall in love with our own prospects for richer or poorer. Dorion has shown a bit more willingness to trade guys (e.g. Zibanejad) who have been here a while, so maybe this bodes well for the future.
