Good old Umberger, such a bad trade when they did it.

He will become a free agent. Will probably go to the KHL and break their hardest slap shot record.

I expect he will sign a one way contract near the minimum with a team that takes a gamble or worst case a two way deal with a team wanting to roll the dice he finds his stride in the A.
It's not the last we hear of Cowen.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see him in an Oilers jersey next year.

I was thinking that too but do they really need a lefty? Not really. Maybe if he's on a two way.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he signs a one-way deal in the $2M range. He wasn't as awful as anyone here thinks. He just wasn't good enough to *anchor* a second pairing and wasn't worth the money he was getting. Put him with a veteran rightie and he'd be fine on most teams' 2nd pairing. And it's not unheard of to have a solid 3rd pairing guy making $2M anyway.

You just watch buddy. I doubt he gets north of 1 mill.

League minimum was $575K this past season, and will be $595M I think. That's already 3/4 of a million Cdn Wink

Guy has played 2 full seasons in the NHL and development was stalled by a couple injuries. A first rounder. BIG. Alex Semin got $1M. Pretty sure Cowen will get more.

Let's even it out. If Cowen makes more than 1.2 mill (per) on his next contract you get to pick my avatar for a month. If he makes less I get to pick yours. You said he'd make 2mill at least. It's a fair bet.

Sure. A month is nothing.
