By the way, does anyone else think that maybe Therrien is safe only because he and Bergevin had decided fairly early on to tank the season?  They were saying Price would be gone, what, 3-4 weeks and it turned out to be 4 months.  If they knew all along he was going to be gone that long, he'd be rusty and out of game shape for the post-season.  They have it a try for a while but then the injuries hit and they just figured better to lose and get a good draft pick.  They needed some help up front and maybe getting a top-5 pick is the easiest way to do so.
I really doubt it. Maybe much later on they decided to throw the season under the bus but I doubt it. It's so easy to get canned in this league and I mean the GM as well that everyone fights for their lives. That kind of order has to come from ownership.

On another news we'd be drafting 12th now if the season ended today. Might have to throw the last game under the bus and hope we can sink a spot or two

I'd much rather sink the Bruins, get EK to 82 (or more) and Hoffman to 30, than go from 12th to 11th or 10th. Then we can troll Bruins fans on twitter, saying "Don't worry, now you have a 1% chance of drafting Matthews".

That said, I expect and want Cameron to return.

You might be right. Its hard to judge cameron too much with all the injuries

Julien makes $2.5M and Cameron makes $900K. I just figured I'd add the numbers to the discussion.

Thanks. So we'd still have to pay Cameron his $900K, and then Julien would get close to $3M. I don't think that's going to happen.

So apperently if Vegas gets a team they will be named "the black Knights "... Laaaaaaaaame!!!! Especially that over time, the stories of the black knight has always been singular.

Cue the slew of jokes about being "the Knights on Ni!"

c'mon... so cliche....
i have to admit that i have no idea what would sound good. to me having an ice hockey team in the middle of the desert really doesn't really bring forth great names.

the scorchers? Laugh1
the sin city bandits? Sarcasm

Bandits isn't bad. I think Black Jacks is definitely cliche, but I also like the connection to the town. Shrug

well thankfully the owner has his heart set on a terrible name so no one else will have to pick.
if you have the chance, go over to tsn and read the article on it. the way he describes the opening ceremony will likely put to bed once and for all our own playoff ceremony with the centurion as the worst ever thought of. it's absolutely terrible.

the vegas vandals has a ring to it.

Drouin has two goals, six shots, and four hits in the two games he's been back.

Las Vegas means The Meadows. Vega is a Spanish word that means "fertile lowland". Interesting name for a city in the desert but, apparently, there were meadows in the 1800s.

That said, "Bandits" would be a good name (one-armed bandits), but this is not the AHL.

Call them the Odds, Aces, Jacks, Scorpions, Rattlers.

Call them whatever you want, because the nickname will still be the Las Vegans.

Actually didn't even get as far as the wikipedia page. The summary in the first google results page was enough Smile

Datsyuk packing it in. I won't have to hear about how great he is when he actually isn't anymore. Thank you.

But they're in the playoffs. Odd that he'd announce anything until their playoffs are done. I mean, it's only like another couple weeks at most.

There are also rumors Zetterberg is thinking if retiring.
