Who the Diddle is this Mark Stone clown?

The Jays are the slight betting favourite, at -150. But yeah, lots of reasons to think Baltimore will win.

Not feeling too good about tonight to be honest....I'd argue that the orioles come in with more confidence than the Jays who stumbled alot. But the bats have been silent for some time with the Jays....stroman will have very little margin for error if the jays are to make it through.

I would be stoked though for a texas/toronto rematch.

Yeah, I think the Jays match up well in a series, since they'd have Sanchez and Happ leading things off for them, and then one of those guys could pitch twice if required.... In a one game matchup I'm less confident.

Texas would have their hands full in a 5 game series, if only because of Sanchez, Happ, Estrada pitching the first 3, then Stroman and Liriano the next two (and yeah, Sanchez could pitch game 5 too if need be).

It would be a tough series, but no one has pitching like Toronto. Now...about that hitting - which obviously was the big gun last year...

They tend to rely on the homerun too much. Kinda like a hockey team relying on the PP. Good thing that homeruns don't dry up in the post-season like powerplays. Still. Nothing wrong with the long ball unless you're always chasing it like that big ope-ice hit; when you miss you strike out or leave yourself out of position and your defense partner in no-man's land.

Is that enough baseball-hockey analogies?

So, Estrada in Game 1, Happ in 2, presumably Sanchez in Game 3. Should be interesting. Still not expecting to win this series, but if Donaldson, EE and Bautista get hot...who knows...

Well...didn't even need Stroman for that one Laugh1

Jays are looking solid. I'm liking their chances with Stroman/Estrada pitching the next two games and then Happ/Sanchez. I would say with those first 4 games, they should win at minimum 2 games at least. Maybe counting the chickens too early, but pitching has been solid including bullpen.

Biggest thing going against them though now will be the big gap between games. There could be some rust by Friday.

Next year? I don't know what you mean, unless you're implying the Sox have it made in the shade down 2-0?

Sorry about your Red Sox, Ev. Plenty of room on the Jays band wagon for you.

I started cheering for the Jays in '92. Then I just took a 23 year break. Laugh1

That's actually true for alot of folks, but definitely not myself.  I went through the pain of those 20+ seasons without playoffs.  Years with Clemens, Halladay go to waste.  Trading Shawn Green in his prime, the massive failure that was B.J. Ryan.  Oh and thinking Arencibia was the future with Brandon Morrow.  Man those two guys took us for a ride.

Esteban Loiza.  Gustavo Chacin.  If you know of these guys, you're a Jays fan that's suffered enough.

That said, it is incredibly annoying to see social media blow up with the bandwagoners who have not really been true fans until it became cool to be one last season.

EDIT: I forgot Vernon Wells. That was a big one. Side note, I was also a huge expos fan. Jays first, but Expos were a very close second, and being in different leagues allowed me to cheer for both. I remember being a young naive boy who hated seeing the expos lose and then sending them an email through their website to tell Jim Beattie (the GM) of what moves he should make to improve the team. I got an email response from the expos saying 'we have forwarded your email to the GM. Thanks for your interest!' or something to that nature. I think I was 13 at the time.

Estrada game 1 hopefully followed by Happ , Stroman and Sanchez that would line up the series well if they only pitch Sanchez once this series!
