Is Turris an ideal #2? Probably. Can he be a #1 and is he? Yah he is IMO but the talent around him is lacking for sure and there still are not clear, defined roles outside of Karlsson and Turris.

This is just like last year with two main differences:
1. We can't blame it all on Spezza
2. We have a 1st round pick

They will hang around and keep it close because of other teams' incompetence. In the end, they'll miss the playoffs and more move will be made. I just hope they miss by more than 4 points.

that is such a problem...

what to do, what to do, what to do....

If they are willing to scratch Cowen for Borowiecki you have to believe that they would be willing to trade him. Maybe I am talking out of my a$$ here but I wonder if that's actually the case?

You're talking out of your Donkey lol.
That GWG was Boro and Gryba. No matter how solid they are for a bottom pairing, they will have moments like these because they are not skilled enough.

Kidding but Maclean is not a good coach. His Jack adams was a mirage. Vets need to go and so do the coaches. Get Ray shero, get Dan Bylsma, and let's get it going.

He is awful. The only time the Sens look good is at the end of games when they need to tie it up because they pretty much rely on instinct more than the stupid "system" they probably don't understand.

This is news? I've been critical of "Mac" and his idiotic moustache for months now. Right again, as usual.

That GWG was on Legwand standing around in an area of the ice completely devoid of any opposition players. There was no-one at the point behind him and (can't spell it) off to the side of the net. By the time Legwand realized he was uncovered and started moving toward him the puck was in the net.

There were a couple other times I was watching when I noticed how slow he was. Maybe it was near the end of a shift, who knows. I thought this guy still had wheels, but not last night.

The only goal they managed was on a long 5-on-3. That's becoming a problem. 6 goals in the last 4 games. They've scored 4 goals *once* since October, and that was a 4-3 OT win over the *Oilers*.

Last night was wasn't unexpected, fact is this team isn't mature enough or talented enough to win. It's a combo of both but at the end of the day that's what it comes down to. The guy they were looking to take the next step, Greening, Smith haven't done it. The guys they were counting on to find a bit of their old self in Michalek and Phillips haven't done it. The only guy worth his $ and plays his role still (and plays it well) is Neil but even then perhaps it's time to change that guard entirely and that's a guy who 100% deserves to play for a cup.

A new core will eventually have to emerge and it can't be forced, it has to be organic. Karlsson is a guy you can see all the qualities in and as time goes on and it becomes more and more his team you will see a more mature and responsible player.

Was at the game last night. One positive was that there were only about 24 shots against. That has to be the season low.

The Boro/Gryba pairing is one that needs to be managed better in game and I believe that is Jason Smith's job. Too often they were out against the Tavares line and the Sens were hemmed in the zone for long stretches. They would try and put Legwand/Condra out there to support but there was a lot of down low pressure. And the PK was garbage.

The GWG was against the 4th liners, wasn't it? And Legwand was not providing any support.

I believe so. Legwand was on the ice, not sure about the wingers. Thought Legwand had a decent night except for that 2nd goal against. Bigger issue is really 6 goals in 4 games.

People are looking at the Sens way too closely right now in terms of the on ice product. Need a macro view of things and right now is all part of the transition.

Neil went for a hit or something, lost his stick and everything went to hell on the 2nd goal. Neil has a good game otherwise though, but that started the chain reaction.

Yeah, I agree with this. Turris should be a #2. There is no quick solution to this problem though....

While one of those guys would be nice and all, I don't think we'll end up being THAT bad.

I don't either and I don't condone tanking, but I wouldn't mind doing it this year. Trade Anderson, Phillips, Neil, Smith, Michalek, get picks and prospects, new GM next year, maybe new coach, Alfie back with the organization. Next year would be truly a fresh start.

One thing that I can see happening, assuming we don't work ourselves back into the playoff picture, is trading Anderson. Could be interesting. I don't see anything big happening for the next couple of months though.
